How old were you when you got your very first car?

In 1969, when I was 15 and got my learner's permit, my dad bought me a red, 1965 Chevy Corvair convertible with an automatic transmission, black top and interior.
It was darker red than the one in the photo and had white wall tires and hub caps, not chrome rims. It was a beauty.
My mom drove it to the mall one day and it got stolen. I only got to drive it once.

When I turned 16 in Jan, 1970, I got my license right away and my dad bought me a dark blue, 1966, Rambler American 2 dr hard top, 6 cyl, automatic.

I was 17. I'd been driving for several years at that point, but I had a lot of expenses during my last couple of years of high school, especially putting together my first mobile DJ system, so it took a while to afford my first car, and man, was it shitty. A 1981 VW Rabbit Diesel that had been in a crash. I new very little about cars then and I got pressured into buying it by my girlfriend's dad.

Still, I managed to keep it repaired enough to put almost 80,000 miles on it in 3 years before it got scrapped. Looking back, I realize how close it was to breaking nearly the entire time I owned it.

I was 17, and I bought the Ford Galaxy just to fix it up so I could sell it so I could buy something else, fix it up and sell it.\n Same with my next car actually was a truck for 34 Ford. Pick up fixed it up, sold it. And just kept moving up.
