The Romanian name Dracul means the "devil", and dracula means "son of the devil" and acting as the "Prince of Darkness".

Dracula can turn into a bat or mist and enters homes through windows at night, and claims sleeping victims.

Spiders and creepy crawlers also enter homes with windows open at night, and can make a meal out of unsuspecting sleeping people.

I keep my windows firmly closed at night.

You might tell me Dracula is a fictional tale written by Bram Stoker.

But Bram Stoker did his research and there is some truth in the tale.

Could the devil enter our homes through open windows causing colds and flu etc, and if we're bitten by insects they can transmit serious diseases like Malaria, Yellow fever, Sleeping sickness, River Blindness.

Have you ever had a fever or chill, severe headache, nausea, or vomiting, muscle pain or fatigue?

Perhaps Dracula has paid you a visit lol.

We open a couple of windows in our bedroom during certain times of the year when it's warm. They give us a cross draft. We put a big square fan, pointing into the room in front of one of the windows at times.
We don't have a home AC system. But we have a window AC unit in a bedroom window for nights that are hot.

We live on 30 acres with virtually zero chance of anyone coming up to our house at night, so we don't have to worry about intruders.

There might be werewolves and vampires in the woods around our house, but they have never given us a problem. Maybe they're afraid of our cats. 🤣

Dracula means dragon. Draco-dracula. It was common for names to have a dragon theme in that general region back in the day. The devil aspect came after Rome adapted it as a standard for the cavalry.

I like my window open in the summer because I find the outdoor noises help me relax. I'm more likely to be bitten taking the dog for a walk

I don't leave my bedroom window open because it is cold outside, and in summer because it is hot outside. My bedroom has heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. Therefore, it is a matter of comfort and my not wishing to waste energy. It has nothing to do with being afraid.

I have a many multi-layered security infrastructure, and I don't live a lifestyle that would garner much interest from the kinds of people who would be interested in breeching my security, so I don't have a lot to be worried about. Normal criminals would likely be put off by a couple of the obvious layers, so it would mostly be the really dumb ones or the druggies who might be stupid enough to keep trying.

Dracula isn't close to the top of my list of concerns.

I keep the window open and my bed is under it but my head is maximally distant from the window.

That's is not due to fear of Dracula but fear of tabby cat. He runs up the wall to sit on the dormer window sill. If I swinishly continue sleeping instead of feeding he jumps down onto me with claws out.

I was living in Sydney in 2000, second floor of a house just back from the harbour, Jacaranda trees overhanging. Hot and sticky night so I leave the window open. About 3am I am startled by an intruder. Roll over with a fright and startle a possum on my bedroom floor. I think I scared him more than he scared me... poor thing dives towards the window but in the dark runs smack into my barbell and lands on its back, gets up and scurries off. My wife and I still laugh about it.

I love to keep it open. You get lots of fresh air, wonderful ambiance from the crickets and sometimes an owl and other creatures of the night. It's just sad I can't do that for like 5 months of the year

I keep a window open all the time if only just a crack.. I hate stale air. I am on the 6th floor so it is not much of a security concern but when I am not I will secure the window in other ways like a stop block or something.
