2 moLike most traits in a human, it can be both a weakness and a strength. Sensitivity is often said to be the foundation for empathy which is core to a person's emotional intelligence. This helps with leadership, understanding of team dynamics, understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a particular individual. What drives them and what sets them back. It is part and parcel of an individual's professional competency in my opinion.
However, an inability to control, regulate and/or suppress one's natural inclination to respond or react in an inappropriate manner whether it be during an interaction, conversation or engagement can definitely be a weakness. E. g. beating yourself up over a poor performance evaluation or being confrontational when faced with criticism.

Being sensitive has given me a very good insight into my own character early on. So I'd say it's a strength within. I know my strong points and I know my weak points. I can live with that perfectly.
At the same time, being sensitive has always had a big influence on my social life, be it friendships, relationships, heartbreaks, school... I live everything to the extreme, everything affects me 200 per cent. I sometimes wish I could turn a knob and reduce my sensitivity level to a minimum.

m 2 moI think it depends...
"very sensitive" to what degree? this can be good, bad or a mix
and I think it is more about how we react, then control ourselves to it... for example, there's an accident... a serious one, a whole lot of people might be very sensitive but they won't know what to do or how to help, some might be too sensitive, over react and freak out, make things worse... and then you might have a doctor/surgeon right there
who will know what to do, how to do it... and do the sensible thing, which is to save a life to the best of their ability, and then... this same surgeon would be considered less sensitive because, allegedly... surgeons are actually less emotionally sensitive and that's a big reason why they can cut you up, gut you out, and stitch you back together without hesitation... lol
ain't that interesting... lmao10 Reply I think being sensitive itself isn’t a weakness, it just means you care enough to experience the world
What’s a weakness is letting sensitivity turn you into a person who finds difficulty in everything and is constantly crying out about it
It’s like fear and courage.
You can’t have one without the other but when you’re courageous people no longer see your fear
Sensitivity requires a balance of strength keep functioning despite the emotions instead of being locked up by them10 Reply353 opinions shared on Other topic. Today’s ice breaker I asked my patients to describe themselves by one thing. One of my patients said she’s very “emotional” bc she’s cries a lot. I looked at her and smiled, “that’s okay, I’m a crybaby too! It is our gift and strength to be sensitive.” Then, my favorite patient who’s super quiet and a very smol older adult lady raised her hand and said, “I’m a cry baby too!” Lmao sooo cute 😂🥹❤️❤️🩹

very touching :)
I see it as a strength , if it’s understood and managed well.
Being sensitive means you notice more, feel more, and pick up on things others might miss.
It only becomes a weakness when it’s overwhelming or unprocessed.
With self awareness, it turns into empathy, depth, and emotional intelligence.10 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Other topic.
2 moI guess it depends on what is considered sensitive, unfortunately people also see sensitivity different in gender, sensitivity is more acceptable in women then men, sensitivity is for the most part only seen as weakness in men, so the answer to you question is probably more complex than a simple yes or no

2 moSensitive is good. Up to a point. Very sensitive can be detrimental if it starts to affect your ability to focus and make decisions or deal with life's challenges. So controlled and managed selective sensitivity is probably the optimum choice.
20 Reply 10.3K opinions shared on Other topic. In our world, I believe it's a weakness.
As a sensitive person, I feel that there's no space for us. The world is made for heartless people. They're happier and their lives always go well.
10 Reply919 opinions shared on Other topic. It depends on how one manages their sensitivity as to whether or not it can be viewed as a strength or a weakness.
I'm told that I'm very sensitive by many people.
Sometimes, it's a hindrance, and at other times it's a plus.10 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. 'tis a sign of strength m'lady.
Because men normally put up a front up, to appear strong, because they're afeard!

I've viewed tons of videos on relationships and this is a very typical thing that people will say.
Blaming the victim AGAIN!!10 Reply371 opinions shared on Other topic. If it means letting people walk all over you then sure, that’s a sign of weakness. It’s possible to be sensitive and still have a spine.

2 moBeing sensitive in which way? If you mean sensitive to the people misery, yes that’s a good thing but being sensitive like you get frustrated or overthinking stuff, I don’t think that’s good..
10 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. In my opinion it's weakness. Having high Situation awareness is strength but sensitivity in shape of too much empathy or emotional dependency isn't.

2 moTotally depends on your control of said emotions. If you have no dial or filter it is all bad. Its a tough world and if you get emotional a lot it could be problematic in all parts of your life.

2 moEveryone is sensitive nowadays that you can't make any remark without offending them. It's why society has become as soft as it has. It's most definitely a weakness.

2 moIt's good to be sensetive enough to precieve things. But you don't want to be so sensetive it dominates your actions above other things.

2 moI am a sensitive person and believe me it is a freakin weakness. It brings overthinking, insecurity, easily hurt, fall in love to easy, easily angered.
It has some pros, like connecting on a deeper level with people or empathy.
10 Reply 3.7K opinions shared on Other topic. It depends on how it's used and what you do with it. In many cases, it's a sign of strength. On the other hand, it can also be a sign of weakness if you fall apart when that particular little perception lights up.

2 moIt might be useful in creative people. Personally I've found it's usually a weakness. The most successful people tend to be insensitive to the point of psychopathy.
10 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Other topic. It depends what you're being sensitive about.
For example death of a loved one and sensitivity makes perfect sense.
