Would you have another child to save your first child who has cancer?

I'm watching the movie my sister's keeper and this is what Cameron Diaz's character wants to do for her first daughter who has leukemia. She had another child to give help with her cancer and give away one of her kidneys for her. The daughter sues the mom for autonomy over her body.

I personally wouldn't do that. I feel like that is wrong to do to your other child.

As for me usually I ponder things & I try to look at things from every direction.

As for this one I’m going to have to look at it from a RIGHT & WRONG point of view.

I’m going to have to say NO on this one. If I had a daughter & she needed a kidney if I was able to & I was a match I would give her mine.

I’m not going to have a child just to save another one of my children, that is not fair to the second child especially if that child didn’t have a say in the matter.

Statistically speaking by the time you have the second child the first child would probably receive a kidney from a living donor or a deceased one. For a child needing a deceased-donor kidney, the average wait time is 1 to 3 years. However, over 40% of pediatric patients receive a transplant within 1 year of registration. Waiting times heavily depend on living donors, the child's blood type, body size, and the matching criteria.

Hmm... no. Probably not. If my child ever knew the truth of their origin and that it required the sacrifice of their sibling, that might psychologically fuck them up. It would also weigh heavily on my conscience to the point I probably would lose a lot of sleep in my life.

Sad to say, but I'd let nature run its course.

I would have to make it known the second child is loved just as deep as the first child and that i would give my life to say either of them
