Some people, especially those who have been on the site for at least several years, have established online relationships with other users. Some of us have actually met in person. In general, I would not be on this site if I did not have the anonymity of a user name, but. . . over the years, I have disclosed enough details about my life that a persistent sleuth could identify me. Because of the positions that I occupy in "the real world," I would be hesitant to ask about, or express opinions on, sexual matters and political issues if I thought those statements could be connected to my real world identity. So I often post anonymously. And, usually, I respect anyone else who does that, unless the anonymous user is using anonymity to engage in name calling or other unpleasant online behavior.
Of course. Most people hate the anonymous option and how it gets abused here. People have been wanting it either removed or severely limited for years. One post or comment a day from an anon is more than enough.
There is also the reality that if you post anonymously, it is very rare anyone will take you seriously.
@HollyK21 I was just on a post from an anon who asks the same question (more or less) every day on here. The anons seem to get a free pass from the monkeys in charge of this platform.
It is. But then again the same people who view those people who post anonymously are usually the same people who harass people on this site anonymously. So don't pay them any mind. Personally, my attitude is this. Good advice is good advice. It doesn't have to have a name behind it to be helpful. I personally find it safer to post anonymously. So i'll continue to do that for a majority of the time i'm here, opinions be damned.👍 Want me to post otherwise? The powers that be need to run a safer site.👍

Just came to say this, the feature gets abused often unfortunately.

I think that it's more that it's horrifically abused and used unnecessarily a lot of the time.
Q - "What's your favorite snack?"
*20 answers* "Twix bars!" And half are anonymous.
Some people view it negatively. I don’t unless the person is clearly trolling.
Nobody likes pink anonymous or blue anonymous they don’t trust them
Yeah because it assumes you’re fake.
I don't see it matters
Only those who are annoying
Sometimes yes
I think so
