How does one perform a version of themselves online? I think people are their true selves while at home or with friends, but I don't see what happens online as being that much different. We are just censored to a point online.

I think the real version can be estimated, if you were to mix all their performed versions. Basically someone made a bunch of accounts, half of them anonymous accounts + they are creative with them + you've somehow got access to all of those accounts => You can estimate what their true self is.
