Is my neighbor's cat just taking advantage of us?

Her owner is never home, and she's been hanging out even sleeping at our property, sometimes all day. She would sometimes rub against us and jump on us. I thought she was our friend, and genuinely enjoyed our company, but we gave her some food and water a few times, and then she left right after consuming it. The last couple days, she came by around the same time, meowed and meowed, and left when she didn't get any food. Is her cat just taking advantage of our generosity and only coming to get free food and occassionally sleep? Multiple times she even helped herself into our house.

I'm sorry, but that cat has a whole second household and knows exactly how to work the system. 😭😂 She gets affection, food, water, and a place to sleep, then disappears when she's done. That's not a neighbor's cat anymore, that's a part time roommate with excellent negotiation skills!

But seriously, cats can genuinely enjoy your company while also associating you with food. It doesn't necessarily mean she's pretending to like you. She might actually feel safe around you, especially if her owner is rarely home. ❤️🐈
