What are your stereotypes about Sweden and Swedish people?

Well I'm from Sweden and I have always found it very interesting to hear what people think about me and Sweden. I don't know if I'm a typical Swede in your eyes.

I am 6,1-6,2 tall, have dirty blond hair. I see myself as a nice guy, though I'm probably come across distant or some have said I seem very hard or angry. Which is not who I am, I'm happy but perhaps not so outgoing. I have no problem talking about feelings, as long as they are not my feelings. :P

Just interested in knowing what you people outside of Sweden think. ^^

Well yeah, you pretty much suit the stereotype I have about Swedish people because of your looks and public  behavior . It seems very similar to me to the Finnish stereotype in the sense that Scandinavian people are perceived as being a bit more self-oriented (not meaning selfish though), private people than loud Americans, for instance. It seems to me pretty true to the Scandinavian culture that is usually portrayed. As far as IKEA goes, I don't really identify Sweden with that, the same way Nokia doesn't automatically come to mind when I think about Finland. If you want the truth, most Western girls can only think of Alexander Skarsgard when it comes to Sweden because it's not a country they know very well. The same thing can be said about Denmark. You might think about Lars Ulrich and Aqua but it doesn't mean you have a complex perception of the people from that country.

I don't really know of too many and while I don't hold any Swedish stereotypes myself, I think there will always be that stereotype that Sweden's population consists of extremely attractive, blue-eyed blondes (especially in regard to its females). Also, I've been told that a lot of people there have golden retrievers? (I know, kind of an odd thing to hear lol) and no idea if that's true, but I've heard it on several occasions. I did have a friend that vacationed there quite frequently though, and she said that the majority of Swedes are rather reserved.

I always pictured Sweds as being blond, fair skinned and having bright blue eyes. The women always seem to be like storybook princesses in terms of physical beauty. I would kill for that natural very light, long blond hair and blue eyes. Other than those things, I really love one of Sweden's dishes...Swedish meatballs over noodles in a light gravy. (I hope it's an authentic Swedish dish or I'm a dumbass).

I was born in the US but I have Scandinavia heritage. My grandfather spoke Dutch with a Pennsylvanian dialect, which has very harsh connotations, which could be why you come across as hard. Personally as far as looks go, I know all Swedes can't look like Alexander Skarsgard, but I can dream, I think of tall, blond guys and tall skinny girls, and beautiful pale skin. Also from Alexander Skarsgard interviews that I've read, I unfortunately always think of Swedes as always being naked -_-  My mom gave me a popular German name and I have the pale skin and blue eyes so people always ask where I was born, they tend to ignore my lack of a personality if I don't tell them I was born in Kentucky. I come off as cold and distant. Maybe I should move to Sweden...

I don`t know much about Sweden, but I know it was in former time the best country in the western world by social benefits.

But there is one bad thing in your country, this is the women.power in a unpleasant kind. Men can snatched by the neck very quick, if they are not so, like women it want.

One impossible example. Women can make a note by police, if a man don`t satisfy her sexual.

And it is also so, that by chat someone up a woman, a man can get quickly the victim by court.

For a woman Sweden is surely a good country, but for a man it isn`t. So I am happy not to live in Sweden, because it would make me angry always looking if I am absolutely correct to women.

Normally I`m correct to them, but it can happen by alcohol, that I`m contacting women, not in a rude , but in a free kind. I don`t want walking over raw eggs. (caution, attention they can break)

But I won't. Strangely, I know of no particular stereotypes about Swedish people. I have heard that people from Northern Europe are solidly build and tall however.

From what I've observed: Tall, blond and Björk-like attractiveness.

Meatballs, IKEA and an awesome language with ä-å-é-ö characters. Also one of the two countries that has a crooked law on piracy <3

I've know two Swedish guys and they're both crazy, but ridiculously attractive, even at the age of 45 now.
