What does it mean if a guy jokingly says you're "hard work"?

What does it mean if a guy calls you "hard work", although said jokingly? They're someone I'm interested in, and we were flirting and I kissed him a few times the night he said that as well.

I'm wondering if it's a good thing or bad? Or if it means they're looking for something/someone a bit 'easier'? If you said this to someone, what would you mean behind it?

(I thought I was being friendly and easy-going that night, and the only "difficulty" I can think of is when I said I didn't want to go back to his place cause I don't know him that well yet..He still wants to meet up again, but I'm unsure what he meant)

A few people said it's a flirty thing to say, but I don't really understand that. In my eyes, he was calling me difficult. I know (like you've said) I'm probably over thinking it, but can any one explain the flirty interpretation of it :S ha ha thanks :)

It means he wonders what your thinking. what your really thinking. On the surface you were having a great time that night but underneath you were thinking about your reservations which is a good thing. If I told a girl (which I never would openily) that she was "hard work" it would mean she was difficult to figure out. Bella from Twilight is the epitome of "hard work" because her mind is deep, all over the place and ultimately not based on logic, which is difficult for males to understand. As to if being "hard work" is good or bad, it's not, your you.

I say it all the time to this girl, mainly because I'm trying to find out where I stand with her, as one night she will barely talk to me, yet another she's all over me.
