Is being petite a disadvantage for women?

I am a petite woman and I think that being petite is a disadvantage.But what puzzles me is that I have come across GAG users who say something quite different.

lmao. I'm not petite and I think being petite is an advantage. no offense, but especially at your age. it seems like being petite is associated with youth, so when you're older, you may seem more youthful on some level if you are. I don't like that mentality, but it is there and specifically directed toward women. plus you're Asian haha

thats with men and being sexually attractive. I assume by petite you mean not just very short but also thin/tiny. I think in the western world, both are strengths with certain groups of men on the thin/tiny part. I think most men like short women, at least in the west.

in terms of getting respect, in employment, prejudices, etc. studies have shown that it is not an advantage to be short in terms of perception. I think that may be on a first impressions basis. doesn't mean you can't demand respect and work for accomplishment if you're short. a taller woman does seem to command a room better than the 5'1 little girl lost in the sea of big people. people are more likely to see second woman as cute and adorable. the first one may be more successful at being intimidating or commanding respect.

It's not politically correct to say, but petite women are typically considered more ideal than tall(er) women...

I'd consider it an advantage, because I'd say on average shorter, slender women with curves are preferred. Now if by petite you mean no ass and no t*ts, that's not considered ideal.

But a slim, petite body with curves is typically considered attractive...more so than being a tall female.

Petite women get more messages on online dating than taller women.  The worst thing about being petite, for me, is having small hands so that when I want handfuls of things, I can't get as much at once, haha

In the west, its generally considered an advantage at least in terms of dating and sexual desirability for women to be petite.

For getting respect in business, or public speaking, or in some (not all) sports, being tall is an advantage for women.

I am aware that in developing nations petite women are not viewed as having an advantage in terms of desirability. I suspect that in poor (or recently poor) countries, being short is associated with being poorer, lower class etc due to nutritional deficiency and wealthier people are taller. That is not true in the west. There is also view that men should be substantially taller then women which is apparently a eurocentric (and north American) phenomenon.

It depends. Do these women want to compete in arm wrestling championships, contact ballgames or Muscle Car centric motorsports? In those scenarios, being petite would be disadvantageous. However, if they want to slip through small spaces, perform acrobatics, explore caves or compete in lightweight boxing, then their petite size would lend well to their aspirations.

For the rest of the stuff, really, it ain't like... Anything to do with it.

Its only a disadvantage if you want to be an Olympic athlete! In nearly every other arena petite women have a sure advantage over the taller girls. More estrogen, better curves, easier to get pregnant, men are more attracted to them, petite women are more likely to be in lt relationships. More likely to have children, the list goes on. Everything I've said has been proven by studies, so no its not like I made this stuff up

Have to agree with TheUglyOne because I don't think that being petite is a disadvantage, at least in the dating are. If you are looking at a specific sport or maybe fighting then it might be a disadvantage, but it also has it's own advantages in a situation like that.

Women generally like a taller man. Guess what men like.  We are broadly speaking attracted to traits that typify the opposite sex. Men are generally bigger than women. It's as simple as that.

Yeah, those aren't petite. Petite means really thin. It's a dress size and has nothing to do with height. Short women just (incorrectly) call themselves petite because it sounds better than short.
