He sent me a poem.. what does it mean?

There's this senior of mine, he's the funny guy who throws jokes everywhere and makes everyone laugh, he used to make me laugh more than my boyfriend (ex now, I think he used to feel a little jealous about it). Anyways we don't talk much, we just say hi when we meet, we talk on fb occasionally and we don't talk a lot. Today he sent me a poem about "missing someone" and it was a good poem but we're only colleagues and it's something you send to your girlfriend or something. I broke up with my boyfriend a while back and I still don't feel ready to get involved in anything until a while. This guy is not totally my type and I am nice to him because I am nice to everyone I don't want him to misunderstand it or hurt him.

I want to know what does this mean, does he like me? And what's a good way to tell him he's not my type without hurting him if he does like me?

1. He sent you a poem, say it's nice or give it a like

2. Why assume that he means to say something through the poem

3. If you want to say something, do so upfront by msging him on FB or ask him in person directly

4. Why say 'he's not your type' kind of stuff, it's your call end of the day. Just tell him that 'you like him as a friend and that's about it, to expect nothing more'. This is polite and being honest and upfront.

5. Hurts etc are a part of life and everyone has to get hurt sometime or the other for some reason or the other, whether done willfully or not. By being honest and upfront you will only limit that hurt and he will probably gain respect for you :)

Yeah well I told him it was a nice poem and so. Well for all I know that poem was a poem you can send to your girlfriend or someone you love. I just don't think it's a good idea to bring up out of no where because I could be wrong and it will sound totally awkward right? :S

Don't change your attitude towards him like ignoring him or being friendlier etc :)
