What's hotter: Being pale or being tanned?

Girls, do you prefer a guy who's tanned or a pale (but not anemically pale) guy?Guys, same question.

I'm naturally on the paler side and if I try to get a tan, I just get red skin. I like being pale, I think it fits me a lot more than a tan would. All this "only people with a than look healthy" is complete bullsh*t, too. If you take care of yourself and your skin, you'll look healthy even if you have milky white skin.

Some people look prettier when they're pale (or just without a tan/plain), others look better with a tan. It's different for every person. Extremes, however, aren't that pretty. Fake orange/extreme solarium tans look butt-ugly, and people who are whiter than ghosts look quite awful too. Again, it is something that simply depends on the person.

If he's naturally tan, like Mexican or Asian, then I like that. If it's like a Jersey Shore, fake-ass tan, then no thanks. Most of those look dumb and you can tell they're fake tans because they look orange.

Short answer - I like anything naturally pale to naturally tan. But I'm extremely pale, as are most guys around where I live, so if I saw an attractive guy who was naturally tan next to the same kind of guy who was pale, the tan guy would probably catch my attention first, just because of novelty.

whatever your skin color is... it doesn't matter...but honestly I don't like when the skin looks red and really pink... once your skin is healthy and conditioned... I can see attraction to the different shades there are...but I am attracted to light brown skin like myself or  a light tan like latin men have...but it's a preference...skin color would not stop me from liking someone ...I just don't like super dark skin tones or skin tones that look fake

In the winter skin so white

In the summer she's tanned just right

But if orange her tan

Okay, but seriously I hate fake tans like hell. It makes younger girls look like they are late 40 year-olds or something.

Beauty is all about being healthy and natural. So have the confidence to wear a swim suit in the summer, and keep from sunburning your face in the winter (if you live where it snows) and you'll be one point higher on the attractiveness scale.

Depends on the extent of the tan or pale-ishness frankly. Like, Jersey Shore tan? Waaaaaaaaaaaaay overdone. I see too many orange people, both guys and gals, it's like they sprayed themselves in PAM non-stick spray. Pale can be cute, but again, depends on the extent. Honestly, I prefer paler girls mostly because they're more down to earth and don't aspire to be the next Snooki or Paris Hilton.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't find tanned skin attractive (unless it's excessive and fake looking). However, that doesn't mean I encourage people to get unhealthy amounts of sun. The bottom line is that I prefer people not to be tan, unless they tan even with sunscreen on.

I think Asian women are absolutely stunning and many of them are pale...but I'm not a fan of the pale look on white girls

I like ginger guys though and they tend to be pale. Gingers are so cute :p

Overall, tan. A nice golden skin tone is best

it looks hilarious when a girl, when its clear there was very little sunlight in our parts goes to solariums and she is way too much burned. I didn't laugh in her face but when she was away I was having a blast making fun of her :p

I mean, if you are naturally baked from the sun, its OK, since it will get back to something "normal" for you, Too much white looks like you never go out and sit by a computer xD Too much of everything sux.

I answered "B" but tanned only looks good if the skin tone is just a couple of shades darker than hr own. But when you look red or burnt, that is not cool.

I like a nice tan. Pasty white isn't very attractive, but neither is orange or being extremely tanned. I don't judge someone because they aren't tan, just my preference and what not.

nothin wrong with a little tan but most are overdoing it.  nothing worse than this fake looking tan that turns your skin into cardboard and shrivel up the skin.  I like soft pale skin

I think in general most guys prefer girls to be pale and most girls prefer guys to be tanned. Just something I've noticed. In my opinion, as long as your not orange I don't really care.

Pale skinned is nice, so is tan skin.  Doesn't really matter too much, I do like pale skin though.  I have pale skin and don't tan well, the sun hates my sensitive skin!

I know a guy who goes to tanning salons all year round and it looks ridiculous. A good tan is for the summer. The fake ones are always horrid and pretty unhealthy for you -- plus, looking bright orange is just not sexy...
