My boyfriend's dad is emotionally abusive towards him.

My boyfriend asked me to help move around things in the house , and the whole time his dad was calling him stupid and making fun of him and yelling at him for doing the wrong thing. Sometimes I would laugh Because I was nervous but other times I wanted to stick up for him. And I told my boyfriend that I don't think he's stupid and he didn't deserve that.how do I deal with it? it actually upsets me

The world we live in is not like those shows we watch on TV. Some Dads are really difficult to handle, abusive or horrible to be with.

This might help.

Tell his dad what's making your boyfriend feel uncomfortable because of him. There will be a fair chance that he might change and try to make him feel happier. If his dad is not that kind of person, your boyfriend needs to act a way that makes his dad feel that something isn't right about his own kid and he might think about changing a bad attitude or habit.

Or if nothing works, tell your Boyfriend to stay strong. Wait until he can independently live on his own, and achieve the true freedom from his dad that he's always searching for.

sometimes parents are a**holes. My gf's dad treats her like crap sometimes. The only thing you can do is love them and support them and be there when their family isnt. Just let them know every once in a while that you believe in them and that you love them and that everything that parent says is wrong
