Do well-dressed people intimidate you?

Question

My co-workers and I were talking about this recently.  We live in the Midwest, which is not as marketable for suits as, say, New York.  If someone is well-dressed, whether a guy or a girl, are you intimidated by them (assuming it's some random person and not someone you know)?  Would you be less inclined to interact with them in any way?  Why?

I wouldn't say I find them intimidating.  However I do tend to judge them a bit because of my practical, spartan nature.  When people focus on aesthetics that much, it kind of makes me think of them as superficial because it holds no practical value.  Regardless of how it looks, I could never understand the appeal of someone who regularly steps outside in footwear that sacrifices mobility, traction, support, comfort, and durability for looks.  It just kind of makes me look at them and go "yeah, superficial."

Nope. People who are trained in martial arts or have weapons & want to harm or kill me intimidate me.

A little. My mind subconsciously assumes that a well-dressed person has a higher age and status than a normally dressed person. Around school it's my inclination to assume that someone who is professionally dressed is a professor. I'd be much less likely to talk down to them for that reason. I would also be less likely to initiate flirting with a guy who was well dressed.

I'm probably an outlier in this particular equation, though.

They don't intimidate me, at the end of the day, they're just pieces of material. However, I believe that I'm well dressed and I have had people mention that others can be intimidated by that. It doesn't make me think I'm better than anyone or makes me less approachable (in my opinion), I just like looking nice.

No, I won't be intimidated by someone dressing..why should i? I will like to see their fashion i like to dress up too to make myself look and feel good

actually I do get intimidated... and part of the solution is to actually get well dressed yourself.. then you sort of prove to yourself you can do it as well .

But rather what frightens me is people putting on cheap cloths/suites for the sole purpose of trying to impress somebody by being something their not.

A suite doesn't make a person a person does. Granted clothing can compliment a person and different people look good wearing different cloths.

If it's a guy then I would feel intrigued. I like a guy who dresses nicely. If it's a girl and she's not my friend I would compliment her if she seems like a nice person. I doubt I would feel intimidated by her unless she's around the guy I like and she's got his attention.

I guess I associate dress like suits with power. If I'm not equally dressed then I probably wouldn't be as inclined to interact with them unless I knew them.

I am  not intimidated because even if the person is well dressed it doesn´t mean that that person has it all figured out. It just means that they have good taste in clothes.

Not at all, in fact I rather like it when people make an effort not to look a schleb, It costs as much money and effort to look neat & tidy and sharp than it does scruffy for a man.

it's all fake.. but yea it does intimidate me a little because fake people have big egos and usually want to argue or judge.
