Why is my ex always trying to impress me?

He dumped me, and says he never really cared about me etc. But every time we talk, he's either sending me a picture of his body without me asking (he's ripped, but he took a cycle of roids so) or he;'ll send me something like a picture of his score that he got on a videogame. What's the point?

Well, I thought he was doing it because he was horny, and missed having sex with you, but he took a picture of his video game score? I don't know only thing I can think is, he's got a kind of dorky personality, and is trying to be funny and impress you with his personality by the video game score, and physically with his body, maybe he wants you back.

Did you do anything to hurt him? maybe he said he never cared because he was really hurt/humiliated and said he dident care, to not seem weak, some guys do this, not really sure what this guys deal is. I'm 50% on him wanting sex from you, and 50% sure he wants you back.

Maybe he's testing you, to see if your serious about it, I'm sure if you intiated sex, he wouldent decline when he saw you were serious.

He wants to feel like he "won" in your relationship, and he wants you to see that he's doing well, because he wants to feel like you still want him (so he's giving you more reasons to want him), even though he (believes) he doesn't want you. Essentially, he's using your (real or imagined) desire to be with him to stroke his ego.

It's purely an ego thing. He LIKES pushing you away, because then it means you want him, and the fact that you want him feeds his ego:

I know this doesn't answer your question, but why do you still talk to someone who tells you he never cared about you?

I can see two reasons why he does it: he's insecure and wants attention or he likes thinking that you think he's great. I've had my own experiences with people who had no interest in me but yet liked to make sure (or so they thought) that I remain interested in them.

He's hoping you're still into him because it gives him an ego boost. He's sending those pictures to impress you, to get your attention. Nothing more, nothing less. He sounds like a real douche though, so if I were you I'd cut him out of my life, pronto.

Sounds to me like he's trying to make you want him, as an ego boost. He doesn't want you, but he wants you to want him so that he can feel attractive and good about himself. And says he never cared as an attempt to hurt you and make you want him all the more? In any case he sounds like a sociopath.
