How to handle an impatient boyfriend

My boyfriend of 5 months exploded in front of his friend because I delayed him when he checked me at work. I tried explaining that I was with a client he did not listen. In the evening when I text him telling him how hurt I was he just told me he does not want to talk about it and he still hasn't talked to me. I am so hurt I feel he is selfish and I am starting to doubt if he really loves me.
