Colored tattoos vs black and white tattoos?

Either way I want a half sleeve of tattoos on my left arm. What I can't decide is if they should be in color or b&w. which do you think is better?

also does skin color play a factor in which is better?

i'm the same skin tone as rihanna, so would that make a difference?

i kind of feel like colored tattoos wouldn't look right for formal events, I know tattoos in general aren't quite right but if you're on the edgy side style wise, it's fine in my book. but say you're out for dinner or getting married, would b&w be better?

I think it depends on the design. Color definitely looks more unnatural than black or grey, but it really makes the tattoo "pop". My tats are colored, and I still can't get over that I fact I have colored bunnies on my arms that don't go away. I think a design that's mostly black/grey outline with a lot of skin still available would be a good mix. Then, if you go a little crazy, you can Sharpie in some color for a night or two, but shower off the color and go back to the B/W mix.

I know if I did it over again, I certainly wouldn't have gotten these bunnies...or if I did, only the black outline and not colored in. Color is a deeper level of commitment that you have to be prepared for.

I'm surprised at the responses. I'd say color most of the time... unless you're black or something. I get that colored tattoos can fade, but they can be touched up. Black tattoos are just boring to me.

wouldn't you think colored tattoos are less formal though? like say if I'm getting married, I think having a black tattoo could still work, but a colored one would throw everything off.

also yes, I'm black if you were wondering, but I'm light skinned (like rihanna) would colored tattoos still look weird or would they be fine to you?

Tough call... I guess it would depend, to me. Depend on the colors used. Whoever does the tattoo. There's nothing wrong with black tattoos to me, generally.

unless your adding like a hint of colour in a black and white tat. those are hot.

but honey id say don't go full sleeve…. if you really insist, get one of those band ones or from shoulder to elbow. sleeves on girls look kinda trashy.

I think black and white with maybe just pops of colour look best on brown skin. I have my back done and it's completely black and white, with pops of turquoise through it and it looks really good against my skin (also about Rihanna's colour).

My personal opinion is black and white. Colored ones remind me of the temporary tattoos you'd wear as a kid.

depends on what you want for tattoos, games almost required color, just design work is good B&W.

Black tattoos. I think if you get color tattoos you need to stay away from the sun more often than black tattoos because it can cause the color to fade and lose its original luster and hue.
