I dont know, in my case I have 3 that are my maximun confidence. I would trust them my life. One of them is a girl and she is like HYPERFRIENDZONED its imposible to me be atracted to her, note because she is ugly, she is pretty but because for me best friends is like actually brotherhood, your second family. Maybe its just me that im weird but being best friend is the max thing and few people can really be one.
Of course there are different kind of people, for someone best friend is something that changes each month and they can have like 20 "best friends". For me is a very intimate thing.
I think he means what he says. He means you are one of people he can trust the most and loves to be around you. However I don’t think it’s hard to turn best friends into more. I have a friend who’s been a bestfriend with a girl for years and he likes her so much but they don’t want to lose their friendship so they don’t get involved. Who knows maybe one day they will. I also know one girl who’s been best friend with a guy for 5 years then she made out with him at the party and blamed it on the drink. Guy was confused. Next time she’s done it again and she couldn’t blame it on it again so now they are together. I wouldn’t say they are a perfect two lmao but hey just cause they ain’t, doesn’t mean you can’t be. Lol

Maybe both of you haven't mentioned any "key word" that make you in a relationship, that's why he addresses you as his "best friend"? Which I found it normal because if the 2 of you are not in a relationship, yet you understand each other well and have good connections, you would be his best friend, but if you were in a relationship with him, and he had no other friend who understood him like the way you did, he could say that you're his best friend still, and in that case, his girlfriend (you) would be his best friend.
Basically there is a secret code to figuring out the true meaning implied by a statement a guy makes. I will share this secret code;
The secret code:
1. Repeat what the guy said in reverse order and repeat it until you can do so without any hiccups or interruptions. 2. Repeat it again slowly while still in reverse order with full annunciation. 3. Repeat the words again in reverse order but reverse it back to the normal order of words. 4. Re-read it carefully again. Congratulations 🎉 You’ve now decoded the real intention of the guy’s message.
When I tell a girl she’s my best friend. Right now my best friend is literally like a sister to me. She knows me and I know her. We talk about everything.
For other guys, I don’t really know they’re intentions. But when I call someone my best friend it’s a decently big deal at least to me because I don’t call people my best friend often I’m very wary of people. It’s kinda like saying “I love you” in a relationship for some people it takes time and getting to know them. But some guys may say that a girl is his best friend with intentions of dating possibly
Could go both ways, it just depends on the guy. I personally wouldn't tell I girl that I potentially would want to date that she's my best friend, but he might be using it as a way to make you feel closer to him. is he flirty with you or do things that just "friends" would not do?
He is extremely flirty with me, lol! like everytime we are near each other he is always doing something to make it be known he wants to have sex with me, haha! He even said to me a couple of times "Hey, you wanna makeout?" or "Hey you want to have sex?" But when I just laugh it off or say no, he'll just act normal with me, but he is always touching my shoulder, and only one time when he was drunk he said to me "You are one of my good friends, and I really mean that"
But behind my back like to our other friends he said "Sarah (me) is one of my best friends" But he doesn't say it to my face, like I said just that one time drunk, lol! But thank you for commenting! :)
no problem! and after reading your comments I would probably lean more towards him looking at you as more than a friend, I would just keep on doing what your doing and see if he makes a move
He probably does, lol! He has been making moves, ever since I met him, but I just didn't know if guys call a girl "best friend" because they actually mean it's something more? or if it just a best friend? lol! I am not too worried about it, I was jsut curious, but thank you for commenting! It was a helpful answer! :)
dont know the whole story so I can't give you a real answer. But I can tell you my Best friend whos a guy. Had him for years n9w the first year I could absolutely tell that he had feelings so I called him buddy and made sure I was clear we were just friends. Now we call each other best friend all the time and we've reached the point of him knowing ecery detail about me so he doesn't have feelings about me like that and I can tell
When he is your partner over longer time span and he is honest, it means you both have very similar personalities on all three ego stages. However it doesn't mean he is a perfect partner because everyone has some kind of pathological behavior and sometime is this behavior very destructive or counterproductive for relationships.
For the most part I think it just means as said , you are very close , he can tell you everything , you count as a confidant , and are extremely important to him. These kind of friendships may not lead to romantic links , as in this circumstance he is ( mostly ) not looking to have sex with you , its friendship.
It is definitely a good thing even though it sounds like they have friendzoned you. The best relationships are the ones where you are best friends and lovers at the same time. Maybe you should check if it was you "who put the friendzone there" by actinqlike you were only friends. Then it is possible he likes you in other ways too.
The way I see it, the guys who are wise about their relationships are the types who choose to build the relatonship on a foundation of friendship, the better the friendship, the better the relatonship. Thus, being best friends means he cares about you deeply as a friend, it also means you'd probably be the best person he could choose for a relationship.
I think he means just that. People don't say that to people they want something to happen with. Nothing could say more clearly, in my book, ' I don't see you in that way at all!' than someone articulating - you're my best friend etc to the opposite sex. Like, is there really a need? Maybe I am being overprotective of myself but i would write it off if I liked them.
I told the one girl who I can trust/closest to that she was my best friend. In this case I meant it literally as the "best" "friend" and did not imply anything romantic. That status to me is really high and if it came to it, I'd risk my life for her close to the same as my romantic partner. But... I know it isn't uncommon for guys to say you're my best friend.. and also attach romantic hints to that...
it really could either way, be actually friends or just saying that to get closer to you.
I had a girl best friend before and this was for at least 4 years of being best friends. Couple years ago I dated her. we broke up and became closer over the years. Then it all went to shit this year lol
Awww :( I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you guys can repair the relationship even if it's just platonic. He could be saying it just because lol! Cause he didn't say this to my face, he said it to a mutual friend that I am "one of his best friends" and he said to me one time when he was drunk "You are one of my good friends, I mean that" So I don't know what his game is, lol! But thank you for commenting! Hope everything works out with you and your friend! :)
i highly doubt that the relationship is getting repaired anytime soon. she never supported any of the girls I was going after or anything that she didn't agree with or did not involve her. Then she told me also I was a two (im that person that is straight up with everything), a man whore for dating 2 girls, bad-boy wanna be(idek), and that I should date girls like her and her twin sister. I just said fuck you and that was that. I miss her but don't miss the constant nagging all
I did have a girl best friend. She was engaged to my roommate and when they broke up I stayed friends with her. I guess the fact that she was my roommate's ex fiancé made dating her awkward. We spent a lot of time together and always had fun when we went out. One time she got confused about me and a few months after that I got confused about her but we never got confused at the same time. She went to DC to go to grad school and I never saw her again.
A guy in my past would say I was his 'buddy'. I was very attracted to him, but he was in a relationship with a friend. About a year later and after they had broken up, I found out that he had been secretly attracted to me back when he said that. Don't know if 'buddy' and 'best friend' are the same?
You know how you're desperately seeking an answer? Most guys are not like that at all, it's more like he's not thinking about anything else at all except sports, weights, or video games. Why don't you ask him? Jesus Christ Loves You, repent, cast out demons, kjv Bible, hallelujah!
It depends on the guy and his relationship with you and him as a person and how you socialize as a group. There is no overarching answer to your question that will always work. For example I say it often to my female friends when I am enjoying myself but also when I like them I usually tend to mention it more.
I don't think there's any guy who would call the girl they wanna date ''their friend'', If he starts calling you a friend it's because he knows things won't get any deeper between you two. So whenever a guy says that they've been seeing you as a friend, he really means it.
I think these questions are impossible to answer because there are so many variables and every scenario is different. It can mean different things depending on the circumstances. To get a sensible answer you would have to set up a specific example and give the background details. But since this question is 100 years old I don't suppose that is going to happen any time soon.
