What does awkwardness between a boy and a girl mean? Does this mean you aren't compatiable

I used to be in the same class as my crush last semester.. He always made an effort to talk to me, regardless the number of times I always shot down the conversations early, because when I'm with him, I get nervous, and I have no idea what to talk about with him. Being myself and carrying the conversation doesn't come easy for me when I am with him. I think he sensed my shyness and nervousness. He still always initiated conversations. I would also catch him staring at me often more than once. After the semester, I gave him my number. And we started texting each other. And we got to know each other better. We didn't flirt, we were just friendly with each other.

However, when it was time to talk to him face to face, I still felt the awkwardness between us, maybe worse than before because I haven't seen him in a long time. The conversation was short and I got out of there as fast as I can. I'm not sure why there is awkwardness. We didn't talk about anything weird, the conversation was short and casual. Although my heart wanted to stop working at the rate it was beating, I didn't look like a nervous wreck. I think I looked sincerely happy and confident. I still have the problem of knowing what to say to him in real life when It's the opposite via texting. -.-

I have to talk to him again tomorrow because I borrowed something from him. I'm nervous that it'll be awkward when I see him. I'm also afraid this will be the last time to talk to him, and if I don't open up soon in real life, we may never talk to each other in real life and or text each other again because of the awkward tension!

What do you guys think? If there is awkwardness between a boy and a girl, does this mean they are not romantically compatible? I really want to be my crush's friend at least if not more. My friend thinks he might like me, but I dunno! :( I feel like it's impossible for anything to happen between us since there's always awkwardness between us and I can't open up face to face! Should I just give up? I spent a whole semester trying to solve my shyness issue to no avil...

Note: there was ALWAYS an awkward tension but it wasn't as severe when he was in my class since he always talked to me a lot face to face

Try this. Limit the conversation, lock eyes with him, lean in, smile slightly, slow down the conversation.

Bang. A normal 30 second conversation just lasted 10 minutes with immense attraction flowing.

Too many people see silence as something to be filled. So much fun can be had during silence with a person.

Yeah you're shy and he's shy...It's like God-Mode Difficulty enabled. Trust in what I say, play to the strengths, use silence as your weapon. Too many loud mouthed people in the world already.

Thanks! :) I'll take your advice! I never realized talking too fast was a problem I should consider and when I think about it I talked too fast since I was nervous. I'll definitely slow down, thanks!

Thanks so much! Another problem I have is that.. most of the time I usually don't have anything to say to my crush, and then there will be awkward silence, and I have the need to run away somehow. I usually plan out convo topics in my head, but then I forget them when its time to actually talk.. I'm thinking about just blubbering random stuff but I can't think of anything when push comes to shove. Any ideas?

Put it this way. The last time a shy girl was talking to me she asked 'Are you wearing a shirt tomorrow'.

I said "Did you just ask me if I'm going to wear a shirt? No I'm thinking of going bare chested...Of course I'm going to wear a shirt."

My point is say anything. I'm confident and you won't get that kind of response for him but just enjoy messing up and having fun. Say anything you want...we're all human.

Heey, sorry to bother you again.. but today I went to return something I borrowed from him. So I met up with him. When I got there, he was listening to his friend talk. When I approached him I awkwardly gave his thing back, said thanks. He looked down, took it, didn't say anything, his friend stopped talking& just looked at me. It looked like he didn't want to talk to me, and I felt like I was intruding. So I left awkwardly. Should I text him? Give up? I felt like I messed up everything -_-

I have a feeling we won't talk again if one of us doesn't text each other soon. But I find it awkward - and I'm sure he does too - that we text a lot and in real life.. its weird .. Today though I really was going to be more talkative, but.. with his friend around, I felt like I was bothering them.. so it didn't happen.. Ugh I don't know what to do. -_-

He is shy. If I approach a shy girl I know for a fact every interaction will be with her and her cohort of friends. I've even had to go on dates with her and her friends just to get to intimacy. I am capable of this but it sucks. You must understand that it is part of the package. He will not be a man that will rip your clothes off even if you want him to. You'd have to rip them off yourself and say 'How's that'. I understand what I am telling you is male talk but you are a woman seeking answers

That's understandable, I'll try my best to make it work. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that since I need to talk to him face-to-face and not text him all the time, which sucks cause I barely see him, and I'm not sure how to ask him to hangout casually.
