As a guy I find this offensive...

I saw a post on facebook this morning saying the following:

Guys nowadays don't want a girlfriend, they just want someone to pretend to be a girlfriend while he goes off with other women.

Now I find this really offensive and very stereotypical. Especially as there were a lot of people that were agreeing with said post. Well i'm going to say something that's rather controversal. Girls when all you do is go after this type of guy you have no-one to blame but YOURSELF

Granted some genuine guys can turn douchy, we as a gender are by no means perfect. but i've noticed that the vast majoirty of girls that say this are the type of girls that always go after this kind of guy and then cry to thier bestie when it doens't work out.

Take a long look in the mirror ladies (You know who i'm reffering to you here) if you're constantly going after guys like that (i believe the socially acceptable term here is 'douche' or 'jerk') then the only person to blame here is yourself and not the guy (not saying the guy is off the hook, he is still a dick for doing this but don't put all the blame on him).

I'm not saying i'm perfect either i've made mistakes along the way during my life (a few in the dating world) yet i'm still a genuine guy ... so girls there are 'nice' guys out there. You just need to stop going for your class a douche and actually start looking for someone different. Stop taking the easy route out.

I think if someone believes that their partner will inherently end up cheating on them, that is a "self-fulfilling prophecy" as I am pretty sure I would not want to date someone who is controlling, distrustful, jealous, accusing, and delusional.

As for the "genuine nice guys" part, you still have to be an attractive individual, both in terms of looks and personality. Being "nice" is just one aspect. Being interesting and feeling satisfied just by being around them is a completely different one.

But I don't think it's ok to generalize an entire gender based on your person experiences. Especially when you're an adult and you can choose to not let someone walk all over you, you can choose to not get too heavily involved with someone if they treat you like trash or you don't know them well enough and you can choose to leave as soon as it begins to happen.

I realize that sometimes there are no signs and some people just manage to fuck others over but I bet that is not the case the majority of the time. And it still doesn't mean that all men are that way.

Almost all of the women I know who are with losers, were with them when they were losers from the start and just didn't have enough self respect to leave them. They text to say "I like you" instead of calling or saying it in person, they ask for a date in a text message, and they break up by changing their status on Facebook. They have friends with benefits - "no feelings!" - instead of developing relationships. Even in my generation, it was difficult to determine what women really wanted, but your generation has it even worse.

You could also look at past failed relationships I'm not saying stay away from him because of that (although I would) but that should also factor into your decision. If he's cheated on his past 6 girlfriends why wouldn't he cheat on you? Granted the girlfriends could've have done something but the fact remains that he could've just ended the relationship without cheating. Ladies it's time to stop falling for every "charming" or "nice" guy who spews you pretty words!

Luckily i've never been cheated on (that i know of lol), but I've met a lot of very different men who are the player type. Some are my friends, others are acquaintances. Some are all abs, others rock the dad bod. Some are wealthy others are piss poor. They all dress differently, have different interests and come from different backgrounds.
One dude was telling me how he was taking this girls out on this amazingly planned date (very unique, cool and romantic) and how the last date he went on was at a soup kitchen. Turns out it was two different girls, both of whom he admitted to leading on. Now this dude didn't look like a player, didn't seem like one, he likes classic literature, talks about the importance of giving blah blah blah...
A guy i knew from high school, would randomly Facebook message chicks (like my bestie) flirt and try to hook up. He has a serious girlfriend, who he says it's okay to cheat on because he's a guy, but if she were to cheat it would be over cause she's a girl. The dude works as a builder likes football and to party on weekends.
I can give you descriptions of others, but you get my point.
I agree that not all guys are like this.
You have every right to be upset at the generalization.
But to suggest that there is a "type" of guy that cheats, that's easy to spot isn't true.
People cheat for many reasons, some don't even consider what they do cheating... it's no-ones fault.

No... he's gonna be just like the nice guy over in your science class and charm his way into your heart.. and you can't reject every charming guy cause he might just be a douche... if you did youd never find the true guy and you'd just come off as overly cautious and defensive. Yes the "it's your own fault for picking the same kind of guy" comments really, really grate. There is no way of telling whether a guy is going to be an arsehole until you get involved with him. The last guy I got involved with was a guy who I had been friends with for a few years -- he was not what I would normally go for : quite shy geeky, your stereotypical nice guy. I gave it a chance, once he expressed an interest in me, as I realised that I had lots in common with him, etc. Cutting the story short - once he finally got me into bed and I had begun to reciprocate an interest in him, he went cold and turned his attention to another woman.
This guy was basically a player masquerading as a geeky nice guy.
There is no way of spotting men who want to use your for sex. The only thing you can control is whether you're going to be a doormat and play out the F-W-B thing in the hope that you can change the guy's mind, or instead have some self respect and cut the guy off immediately.

A nice guy is a guy who wouldn't hurt their partner willingly, cheat, lie and lead girls on for fun. That's a nice guy to me. Someone who is genuine, sincere and loving. There are guys out there like that. It's not "impossible" or unrealistic. Some guys come into your life acting like they are nice (by my definition at least) and tell you how sincere they are and how they are different and won't hurt/use you. Most girls get tricked like that thinking the guy's intentions are pure and then in the end we get burned. It's not like these "bad' guys came into my life treating me like dirt from the start.

Actually, in certain situation I found this to be true in the guys between age 14 to 17. But they really get to know their true self after this. Even my friend is like that. He stole the girl I liked and filled her with words against me. I was helpless, she is a good friend but won't listen when I speak about her boy friend. It's kind of very desperate and sad feeling when I hear her speak of that bastard.
But I still hope that one day she'll be able to get to know my true self. For now, I am not in an excellent situation but just don't want to make things worse.
