Dating/being friends with someone with anxiety/depression tips.

11. Do not say you have depression, anxiety, imsomnia etc unless it has been clinically proven. Just because you feel sad does not mean you have depression. Stress isn't anxiety. Anxiety is like that moment you miss a step going down the steps or are about to fall from a chair you're leaning on the back two legs. But it doesn't stop. If someone is insulting them, stick up for them.

10. Please, reassure them constantly. It may get annoying for you but they will appreciate it a lot. Reassure them you're not too busy to talk to them, they're not annoying you, they are wanted here. Not many people understand this is needed, thats why people with anxiety ask "are you busy?", "Am i bothering you?" a lot.

9. Keep them in the loop of your life. Tell them your plans for the day, make plans with them. Keep them informed on the latest drama if they want. It will help keep them at ease.

8.Telling someone with anxiety to "just calm down" does not help. It is a mental disease. They can't control it. It isn't their fault. Support them and help them, quelm their fears when they speak them to you.

7. Tell them when you're on your way somewhere or just got home. It may seem obnoxious and unecessary but they will be grateful. They won't need to worry if you're okay.

6. Just rememeber just because you are dating them does not mean they will be cured. They can still have severe anxiety or be very depressed. All you can do is help them. If they hate themselves, show them a way to love themselves.

5. Give them hugs. Hugs can always help them. It's real solid proof everything is okay. They can help a lot after a long, hard or stressful or sad day.

4. Triggers, identitfy them. It may be difficult but try to realize what triggers them. It can help you make them feel safe. You can help make sure they don't get triggered and to avoid them.

3. Change is difficult. If things need to change, have it happen slowly. Change is stressful for them as they feel it may cause problems, be going too fast, may make things worse etc.

2. Be there for them. There is nothing more you can do. Accept them for who they are, support them, help them, love them. Anxiety and depression are two very difficult things.

1. Do not let them be alone. Make sure they know they're not alone. Other people have depression and anxiety too. People love and care about them. They don't always know this, and need constant reminders. If they feel alone, they will think. Anxiety and depression are very serious mental illnesses and can't be treaded on lightly. If you date someone with anxiety, please understand all these.
