I've been betrayed a lot but I've never invaded someone's privacy unless you count social media stalking etc? However, if he does something to break the trust or rise my suspicions then I may go down that road.
My phone knows when it's "home" and stays unlocked. Same with my wife's. The only time I've taken advantage of that is to call my own phone to find it. I don't worry about what might be on there. What would snooping do for me?
Good take buti dont entirely agree. If you're hiding something then the person next to you shouldn't be there. Plus lets face it. Most people like a liiiittle bit of jealousy in their relationship. Now im not the jealous type and i dont mind people sending dick pics to my girlfriend or checking her butt while squatting. However, every girl i ever had, had this "complaint", that i wasn't jealous or curious and thus i didn't love them etc... what i learned? Everything in moderation.

1) i paid for it, therefore it's mine.
2) you don't go through another person's things;
3) you ask before taking something that doesn't belong to you.

it's called basic respect for me and my space. if you go through my things and expect me not to be mad about it, you're the one with the problem and shouldn't be in a relationship until you learn healthy boundaries.

Ikr. If I can't trust my partner, or they can't trust me, we'll take about it first to try and solve the problem for good, but if that doesn't work, I got to cut it off. I want to be in a relationship with someone who I feel I could spend the rest of my life with, and if we have trust issues, then that would never work out.

yes, they're a couple. but it's important that each partner maintains his or her own identity/friends/interests, independent of the relationship... if you already know everything about your partner, you'll have nothing to offer each other.
My partner could check, if you have nothing to hide then why not? What if your out and your phone dies and your boyfriend/husband needs to use it, are you really going to say no? I know plenty of couples and they all go on each others phone.
there's nothing wrong with borrowing their phone but letting them have it so they can find something inciminating? Even if you have nothing to hide i find that incredibly insulting.

Everyone needs room to breathe in a relationship. One's phone should be that space. Otherwise, one will feel smothered!

You got it. Trust's the thing. Someone be like- oh they don't want me to check their phone because they are hiding something from me.
Trust is built. "Show me" I can trust you. Then I will begin to trust you. If not I just won't get close. There just won't be a "close" bond. And that's fine. I'll just "know for myself" never to let that person in.
I have no problem with her looking through my phone if we're married. If we've been on a couple of dates and she does, that last date was our very last date.
The easiest way is to be so open to say "you can look at my phone, if you want to."
Better not cross any international borders if you don't want anyone checking your phone...
i've taken my phone across the border many times and no one has ever checked my phone. what reason would they have to do so?
i wouldn't take issue if it was for a valid reason. but i'm just curious as to what that valid reason would be.
It's not done everytime; it is now happening more frequently, especially if you look Mid Eastern. I have had my laptop searched (entering another country, not coming home).
They don't need a valid reason if you are entering the country. Different standards than when walking down the street.
