I agree and have a similar policy. If you trust someone and have no specific reason to suspect something then you don't need general access to my accounts.
I'm saying that my identity matters to me and yeah, security and respect is a 2 way street. I have no problem unlocking my accounts if someone has a comcern but why would a guy want complete access to all of my main accounts/passwords? Why should I undergo that much scrutiny? That shows me that he probably has control issues.
Especially "If my best friend is venting to me about her relationship, that's not for anyone else's amusement.". I couldn't get this through the head of an ex. If a friend is talking to me about their problems, then they know they are talking to me and me only, no one else.
Thank you! Some things don't concern anybody but me. I know, that there are some things that I've only felt secure telling 1 person on the face of this earth. And I'm still comforted by the fact that (as far as I can tell) they've kept my privacy. They can be confident that I'll protect their interests, too. If my loved one is having a crisis, why would a reasonable S. O. try to make it about them and their security?
