"There is still some inequality with women being victims of more crimes and also being stereotyped to be a certain way for the most part worse for society as a whole ex. only being attractive if they look or act a certain way. "
"Being victims of more crimes" than who? Men? ... Did you proof read your take, or was it just a rushed concept, because that part made no sense and/or is incredibly vague.
"also being stereotyped to be a certain way for the most part worse for society as a whole ex. only being attractive if they look or act a certain way" This part is very poorly worded, it took me several attempts to understand what you were trying to imply. Women AND Men suffer stereotypes...
You know what, I'm sick and tired of having to respond to such bullshit as this - I'm cutting my answer short.
Also "Overall feminism is about the ability to choose. To be able to choose to go to school, to work, to become whatever you can, to act (within reason) how you want to act. " <<< probably the most delusional part of this whole take: You've just given the definition of human right.
Girl you are better of working and doing productive things, your basis of feminism is deluded and conforms to group thought which is prevalent among young girls who do not understand the concept of empowerment and how to achieve it through driven social equity. IT IS NOT ABOUT TRYING TO OUTSMART ONE ANOTHER.
lol I am working... my job is to stay awake and be at least somewhat alert to things around me
I am not trying to outsmart anyone.
Everyone has their own things that they consider empowering and my take on empowerment is in the end it all comes down to what someone wants to do. What is empowering is doing what you want with your life without being unfairly judged.
To directly or indirectly restrict a person's choices because of something like gender whether it be through a law or because of being unfairly judged by people around them, is preventing them from living the life they want.
Now is if that is not preventing personal empowerment then I don't know what is.
@_lovii_ You know that moment when you give up all hope? I had it, I just couldn't be bothered to answer any further because I knew OP was just going to be defensive.
I don't much agree with feminish really. Women are getting many of the same thing guys get as far as wages, and treatment etc . I have looked at our policies at work with regard to gender discrimination is pretty elaborate. I think that femism is still in a way, set out to undermine men. Now when it comes to matters of the household, I think each couple should decide that as individuals. To me, Sexism via Feminism or the new movement by men called MGTOW, or, Men going their own way, I think both need to become relics of the past.
As I see it, when a door is opened for someone, it's not because the other person isn't capable of opening it themselves, it's just being nice. I don't see a problem with being nice... but it's what the world is lacking. I wish people would get off their high horse and accept it when people are being nice to them.
I am perfectly capable of opening doors on my own, but if someone chooses a few seconds out of their day to open a door for me, I'm not going to bash them for treating me like I'm weak (or other BS), what I will do is give them a genuine smile, and a sincere thanks. And I've held doors open for others.
I would like to say that the code of Chivalry actually has little to do with women only a couple small parts of it actively relate to them. The vast majority of the code deals with ethics and how you should carry yourself and act both on and off the battlefield and how you should treat and fight a enemy combatant. As well as many other things.
Ladies, if you wish equality then you're egalitarians. Feminism has been presented as fighting for the rights of women, so that they have the same possibilities like men. However equality also involves having the same responsibilities. Only a blind man won't be able to see that today women are not equal to men in the legal sense but receive far superior treatment compared to men in all walks of life. I do not wish to start argument because I honestly love women I know that whatever I say I will not be taken seriously. Therefore I'll leave this wonderful woman do the talking.
In Canada, the office of Women's Status. Can only advice changes, but cannot create changes meaning they can do demographic and social studies to inform the government of potential risks, but at the end of the day it's the government to decide after having consulted the available information on a specific issue. If a law, is required. Most of the times... they have more important matters to attend, than solving an issue such as '' MY MAN! doesn't open the door when I try to get in the Car '', many women might feel neglected. but equal rights means you'll have to suck it up, and make a WO-MAN! of yourself. Feminists are not a threat. Terrorism is...
I've never seen dudes open doors or pull out chairs for women. Honestly I would find it weird if they did it, lol. I mean I'm not going to open a door for them or pull a chair out so why should they? Plus who gives people flowers? Never seen that but it would be weird since there isn't many uses you could use flowers for but to pretty up a place.
This might be due to me living in a cave. I thought in most countries these days women were basically as equal as men? Again never seen women being treated like shit in an unfair way by other dudes.
I am completely convinced that chivalry is not dead, stupid or strange, but also does not agree with equality. So girls, please also hold doors open, be polite and gentle! If both men and women are acting polite, there is no problem at all!
I hope you agree to this, but when I asked it to a feminist I got this answer: "Women are just better than men, accept it. We women have the future and power.
So I don't have any problems with feminism, but it gets annoying as soon as it becomes feminaziism.
I understand that a lot of feminist have that view point but I don't agree with it nor do I think it's healthy.
Men and women are different and no one should deny that. However their differences overall do not make one superior then the other it just makes them different.
I would however disagree with the chivalry comment to an extent. Men are free to choose to act a certain way the same as women. If men choose to be chivalrous that is their choice and if they choose not to be that is also their choice.
Chivalry is similar to being kind to someone. If you say that being chivalrous makes you unequal you would have to make a similar comment about being kind.
I think chivalry is an act of kindness to the ones you appreciate, I do not think chivalry should apply to everyone. If for example one is not acting politely, i think chivalry is even misplaced.
most of all i'm pissed at feminism for their unwillingness to take a clear stand and action against radical feminsm. Too often they seem to be sitting there pointing fingers while saying "not us". Sorry, but they're by definition a part of the collection of movements we know as "feminism". Also the idea to work from top to the bottom is just absurd. Women as bosses and CEO's are all nice and dandy, but what the fuck about women as truck drivers, garbage workers, construction workers, soldiers, sewage personell... YOU NAME IT! I don't see any work to bring equality there!
@_lovii_ yes! you know there are female bosses too! But that doesn't mean the dispersion is equal, as it seems feminists want it to be. my point? You can't agenda for equalism in white collar jobs, without agnda for equalism in blue collar jobs too. Why? Because white collar jobs are "better" (no seriously, they ARE better), and only agenda for the white collar jobs will just make you look like opportunists wanting the best without getting the worst. So equality means taking, and giving. It means getting the chance to be at the top, but it also means dealing with the shit at the bottom.
Good that you are aware but I don't think you really understand. It's that woman are seen as "lower" "weaker" and not as capable like men to take on sots a big job as being a boss. Did you know that there are more men named John than women running big companies, I'm sure you didn't. If a woman want to be a truck driver then let her and if she wants to be the next president then shouldn't she have the chance to be? It's shocking that probably most people would be agains it. Feminism stand for equal rights and equal choice. If a man want to be a policeman then great and if he wants to be a ballerina then who's stopping him.
I see women as free to do whatever job they want. But they compete on equal therms as men, so the job goes to the one able to do it best. Equality isn't a 50/50 sex dispersion, it's the ability to pick any job you want without being judged in light of your sex, it's fair competition, and it's equal pay for equal work. So in theory a 99/1 sex dispersion can still be equal.
A bunch of random pictures on the internet and a failure to understand what both the fundamental elements of what you're discussing is didn't help. For instance modern "chivalry" has nothing to do with the actual code of knights. At all.
Then feminism? It isn't a singular cause. As a matter of fact there are indeed ideological facets that do declare females as superior. It is not a simple easily tied with a bow thing.
Yeah that's why I made a distinction between the definition and modern day examples.
Also if you were to look at the root reason as to why the feminism movement started it's so women had just as many life choices as men ex. voting. and we're identified as persons under the law.
Modern issues would be societies view on how a woman should be and how they should act. Whereas men have more freedom to do as they please. Thus showing inequality in that area.
The more modern take on feminism is how you describe however the roots are still the same. In mytake I am speaking as a modern day application of the idea connected to the roots of feminism.
My thing is this. It's like every time I listen to someone talk about the "roots" of feminism they really don't actually know what the history is. Feminism was began primarily because females were horribly mistreated. It had nothing to do with life choices. It had everything to do with being married off and sold like cattle. As the movement developed over the course of several hundred years the things you know about American feminist history, such as the right to vote in 1920, came to pass but that was definitely not the first, or even really the largest, victory of feminism.
There's also a major issue where people believe that women weren't people or something. That isn't true. They were people. They did have rights. They just didn't have the same amount of rights and they acted as economic lynchpins between families and today still are actually with a decent number of marriages in certain states of the world being completely economic.
Now looking at Chivalry the modern bastardization of chivalry and the history of it is very important. The idea behind the modern version is actually completely sexist and completely against the feminist ideology you are pushing as the "One True Word". The reason this is happens to be because it is literally the birthplace of "Friendzone" thinking, the idea that if you woo a woman, and court her, in a specific way you win sex. That's what it is. It is not a code of any form of honor because in actuality the original code of knights, or even some slight variations, have nothing about opening doors and everything about taking care of widows and children. There's no guide to hot sex with the real knights templar and that sucks. So why the name? It came from the "Knight in Shining Armor" saying referring to Mr. Right. In modern times we call these people "The One" etc. (I still think of that dumb Jet Li movie. Which was awesome might I add.)
As for your understanding of 3rd wave feminism it's completely wrong. Civil Rights have been majorly established, thus 3rd wave, the goals of 2nd wave were pretty much set in stone and no one is going to reverse Roe or Doe anytime soon. Instead 3rd wave focuses specifically on social issues and managing social awareness as well as opening Feminism because believe it or not Feminist Doctrine of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, really was kind of Pro-White. No one talks about it but that's why in 92' there was 3rd wave which started, or rather was said to have started with a paper by Walker. From this grew things like Transfeminism which was actually rejected by Feminists for a while but finally allowed in and so forth and so on.
3rd wave has brought about many new ideologies, most of which I am sure you are not aware of, and almost all of them do not support, or even acknowledge, the idea of Cold War era "Chivalry" as legitimate. They cannot be married.
Which is exactly why there's no neat bowtie. World history and the history of feminist ideology and cases is not universal. It's not surprising that this would come up at some time in history in some place. It has in many.
But in the end doesn't come down to women having as many choices as men in their life?
Yeah at the start it was just fighting for basic human dignity but now we have come to the point in developed countries where women are getting that basic dignity the vast majority of the time. The issue now lies with equal choices in life as men and being judged the same and/or similar to men if they made the same choices.
The issues are no longer legal but social in nature.
No. As a matter of fact the whole egalitarian ideology is not actually part of first or second wave; "Equal protection under the law" is not "Same choices as men" because let's face it; if a man runs around in a dress he's seen as an odd thing but if a woman runs around dressed to the nine's in male clothing by design and designation she's just "being herself".
I have no idea where you garnered "Equivalent Choice". I've never seen that advertised. This is why 3rd wave isn't doing too hot and why I preferred 2nd; the goals aren't clear and people often just make up the cause because who is going to stop them? Sociological movements are almost always about power, no matter the era, no matter the group, and no matter the stakes. Power.
This equivalent choice stuff you have made up is just unnerving. What choices are you "fighting" for exactly even? Such is not clear and elucidated. The choice and ability to... swing a sledgehammer? Because you can. Women have been since forever.
You can say feminism is for everyone but actions speak louder than words and the actions of you [feminists] try to shut down others' opinion due to their sex, race, religion and gender. Must be pretty tough to say how feminism is for everyone as you stare over your Male Tears coffee cup with your 'Die Cis Scum' shirt.
Quite frankly, don't expect me to pay for dinner after you go on a rant about how women dont need men and men only hurt women. Or expect to pull out your chair, take your jacket, or hold the door for you. These are COURTESIES. We do them to show respect, not because I think you actually need help.
I think being respectful and courteous of other peoeple especially your partner should be standard behavior for human brings not any particular sex.
It's awkward when you hold a door open for a guy and he gets weirded out bc you're doimg " his job."
I got stuck at a door for ten minutes bc me and my now bf couldnt figure out who should go in first bc we were both trying to be courteous but he felt weird about accepting it. He's cool aboit it now but it took a few months.
I don't see how they could co-exist. Feminists talk about how they want equality but you can't have equality AND special treatment based on your sex. It doesn't work that way. If you really want equality, then women should open doors for men too. I mean, that's what I do and I don't consider it being "chivalrous," it's just called being a respectful person.
The problem is that you ladies want equal treatment, and then you want guys to treat you well. If you want everyone to be equal then wouldn't everyone act the same? That's why both women, and men make it difficult for chivalry exist in modern society, because you want everyone to be equal, and then you want to be treated better after ten seconds, and you can't have both. That's why so many men are deserting their Western counterparts, and are looking for women from the former Eastern Block due to them having a cultural difference of that of the West.
I think feminism is wrong in saying chivalry is sexist. If a woman gets the door for you, she's being polite. But if a man gets the door for you, he is undermining your ability to get the door yourself. Now if that's not a double standard I don't know what is.
I think it's great if a guy is 'chivalrous' feminism is all well and good and if I walked through a door and a guy was behind I would hold the door but I can't see why people don't like chivalry because it shows a girl how kind and caring he is and shows a guy the girl isn't too highly strung by getting mad and calling him sexist for holding a door or something similar. People need to chill out and stop hating guys when they try to be nice to you, feminism for me is more about the big picture and not tiny, daily things that people do that wasn't meant in a bad way

Sorry feminists... you cannot demand to be treated as equal AND to be treated as special. You cannot have it both ways.
Chivalry is dead and you feminists killed it. NOT just radical feminists... ALL feminists. Feminism and the way it has treated the male gender has removed any desire on the part of men to treat women chivalrously. It's dead and you are to blame. Now you want it back. Tough shit.

chivalry, feminism, eh, whatever, I don't really care anymore, I've given up on dating, too many bad relationships and bad dates. Let everyone else fight their stupid gender wars and legislate against each other's basic gender behavior and biology, continue demonizing each other, ruin relationships even further. I'm not getting involved with women anymore, so I won't have to deal with it. Basically, I'm only going to speak with women on a professional level at this point, and I'll limit that contact as much as possible so they don't get any ideas. Probably will limit male contact to just business as well.
They can totally exist and do in many ways, it's hilarious actually, the feminists really do want to bake their cake and eat it too, and a lot of men don't seem to have a problem with that. They are happy to be chivalrous, get shat all over for being sexist, and continue to indulge her fantasy, these desperate sex addicts literally sell their souls and their women turn spoiled, and raise spoiled ungrateful children
welcome to the future, we are here. Everything is falling apart at the seams. If you raise your kids in the city and send them to public school, they are doomed.
The girls who need to redefine feminism like its not what people thought are doing exactly what people thought they were. No one needs to justify that feminism is not there to exploit men more than the girls who use feminism to exploit men. Girls who actually believe in equal rights dont need to explain why they choose to call themselves feminists instead of just equal rights supporters. Because none of that shit fucking matters to them.

Yeah and that's what feminism is, it is promoting females human rights, that's if you look at the very basis of it.

Yeah it should.
I don't see how they could co-exist. Feminists talk about how they want equality but you can't have equality AND special treatment based on your sex. It doesn't work that way. If you really want equality, then women should open doors for men too. I mean, that's what I do and I don't consider it being "chivalrous," it's just called being a respectful person.
but do you split the bill on the first date?
The problem is that you ladies want equal treatment, and then you want guys to treat you well. If you want everyone to be equal then wouldn't everyone act the same? That's why both women, and men make it difficult for chivalry exist in modern society, because you want everyone to be equal, and then you want to be treated better after ten seconds, and you can't have both. That's why so many men are deserting their Western counterparts, and are looking for women from the former Eastern Block due to them having a cultural difference of that of the West.
to.*.
