Love and forever are two complicated ideas to wrap your head around. You find yourself asking, "Is he my soulmate?," "Is she the one?" Well when you first meet someone it's all euphoria, but after the honeymoon stage when you are contemplating if you have a REAL future together; you need to consider a few things to see how well suited you are for each other.

Below are 10 signs to help you realize whether you've found the one.

1. You're Still You!

When your in a relationship, you can get caught up and lose yourself. It is important to still have your own identity outside of the relationship and still have your own friends.

2. Trust

You and your signifcant other trust each other completely and whole-heartedly! You both are secure in your relationship and don't get jealous over petty things.

3. Good News & Bad News

Your significant other is the FIRST person you call when have good news or bad news.

4. Mood Reader

Before you even open your mouth, your significant other already knows what mood you're in just by reading your posture, facial expressions, etc.

5. Proud

You and your significant other are proud to be seen with each other and praise each other's accomplishments.

6. Nothing Is Everything

It is important that you feel comfortable doing exactly nothing with your significant other. If you guys can have a blast chilling on the couch just watching TV, then you will have a blast for the rest of your lives!

7. Fighting

You both will fight, scream, and maybe even cry, but at the end of the day you and your significant other know that you will still be togehter.

8. The Future

You can casually or formally talk about the future and neither one of you will trip or freak out!

9. You Have Each Other's Back

You know that you have each other's back and that your relationship is only each other's business.

10. Compromises

You and your significant other meet each other half way and make adjustments and/or sacrifices to benefit the relationship.

Knowing you found "the one" takes more than butterflies in your stomach. How did you know you found "the one?"

Very nice myTake, but I'm puzzled why you chose to go Anonymous with it! You made great points here.

I knew I was with "the one" when I finally understood the concept of sharing expenses and money equally even though one of us made less money. In previous relationships, I was so busy guarding all the things I had and the money I made (partly because I'd been ripped off financially by two men who put me in horrific debt). Each time I met someone, I had the money-attitude, "Okay, this whole thing is 50/50 down the line!"

When I met my husband, I made more than he did, and I finally got it - the money you two make together is shared income. Whoever needs something will get it. Bills are paid, no question. You pool your money and you work with it together. Later on, and actually right now, he makes more than I do - but I work with him to make sure he's a success. So now our money is still shared and we make it work together. If he wants to take any of it and put it in his pocket he does. If I need some, I do too. It's just understood that we're not out to rip each other off, we're building a life together.

It took me almost my whole life to that point to get it that when you get the meaning of "sharing" it all feels exactly right and comfortable with "the one". If it doesn't feel right, and there is no sharing, then chances are, the right one hasn't come along yet, or that person hasn't become the one yet.

To be more direct, it may very well be the last straw to your significant other and good enough reason to "break-up"
Best is to communicatie. Let her or him know what exactly is going on so the two of you can work it out and at the end of the line understand each other beter.
There is no shame in having a really serious or emotional conversation.

Don't know about other country, but about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher. That why I don't believe in "the one".

More than likely because the majority of people who marry aren't doing it honestly or they cheat. So why WOULDN'T someone divorce in those situations? :O

That just the stats for married couple. Countless relationship ended before marriage was even on the table due to cheat/trust issue/fall out of love/etc.

That why I laugh when new couple say they have found "the one". I'm like "honey, you still got a long life with him/her, you never know what gonna happen."

That's why I'm not an advocate of marrying early. People undergo another level of emotional maturity in their 20s and have a new perspective on life. They're not the same person nor want the same things anymore.

The "having your own friends" part bothers me. I don't really have my own friends and that was before I got in a relationship too. Do I need to have friends to know if my relationship is good or not?
