I met my old crush again recently and my feelings for him are back. Should I try get him back?

So almost a year ago I started talking to a brother of a friend of mine and we instantly hit it off. We spoke every night and i really started to like this guy. We never physically met up because we live a good bit away from eachother but whenever i was at his house with his brother (who is 7 years older than me so no romance there) he never came down to say hi or anything. We were never official or anything but we came pretty darn close to it! But all of a sudden after about 3 months he stopped hitting me up, texting me, snapchatting me or tweeting me - in fact he even unfollowed me on twitter! It was completely out of the blue with no warning signs or anything!
This will probably sould really cocky but this was the only time a guy i liked ever cut me off as its usually me who breaks contact with them. I was angry, embarrassed and confused. I saw him again recently after 7 months of no contact and it was really awkward but we spoke a little bit and i have completely fallen for him again. I really want to go back to how things were but im afraid of being rejected again. I dont want to ask his brothers opinion because that would just be really awkward but i do know for a fact that he used to like me back when we did talk. What should i do?

Being that 'Out of the blue' he just sort of fell off the face of the earth, losing touch, my Intuition tells me, that being he Never even came down 'Whenever at his house with his brother,' Bro may have told him that He is the one who likes You, and to stay away, stay out of sight. Or, for you are also saying, that you both came 'pretty darn close' to becoming 'Official,' he may have gotten Cold duck feet, Quickly running back into the murky waters. And of course, he could have Also started "Following' someone else... Three strikes you would Then be Out...
Now that you've seen one another, after some time, things are naturally 'Awkward.' But being you seem to have 'Completely fallen for him' once again, I do think you should at Least have closure, should nothing ever materialize out of it. Then you can move on----Completely once again.
Contact him through text and find out if he might want to hang out sometime, that it was great seeing him again after so long. See where That gets you. You mentioned the distance, so if it doesn't seem to be an issue with you, then I don't see where it would be an issue for him again, unless he had had decided it was...
However, if you shouldn't get a Reply, putting you on his pay no mind list, or even a Retort that makes you 'angry, embarrassed and confused,' let sleeping dogs lie. You would be barking up the wrong tree, just move on.
But one never knows if it could turn out to be just the opposite. And if he Texts back, Not 'Really cocky,' then Maybe it is meant for Old Mother Nature to sow the seeds you wish to reap.
Don't be afraid, take the chance. You won't rest Easy until you at least Know where you and he stand.
