Do girls like old fashioned guys?

I really don't have much to offer. There's been girls who fall in love with me because of my humor and I can always entertain and apparently I'm a delightful gentleman but they always find someone better while in the middle of dating. Is it typical for girls to walk away from guys like me? I'm always surprised cause I've dated all sorts of girls and it's mind boggling now. I'm thinking that maybe a girl who is more concerned with working than having some "Everyday must be awesome" ideas is right for me. I want to be able to meet up with this girl to hang out and just do simple things cause for me that's a real relationship.

I think there needs to be a balance, old fashioned can encompass a lot of implications. In my opinion the notions of respect and trust are old fashioned values that I consider to still be critical. Some traditional romance will go a long way to stand out in a crowd, although I think there needs to be room for some mischievous fun too. I don`t think that means a man should have to pay all the time (should be a balance) nor that its always up to him to take the lead, be the sole bread winner, etc but a little gallantry goes a long way.

As long as old fashioned does not imply he values traditional bourgeois domesticity, virtuosity, innocence, and subservience in a woman, those notions date well before the 1960`s, we`re talking the end of the 20th century during the rise of Industrialism and Victorian practices with those ideas. We are in the 21st century and although statistics prove women still do lag behind with respects to rights, freedom, education and employment, we have been catching up, haha.

I guess in the end it doesn`t matter what the majority likes or does not, if you are old fashioned then you wouldn`t necessarily want a woman who doesn`t value the same ideas. Society has a habit of saying you shouldn`t do this or that, and sometimes we need to think a bit more critically. There are many men and women who follow a more traditional relationship mold and are very happy just as there are many who could never be content with such a lifestyle; there`s nothing wrong with either one. Stick true to what you consider important above all else. Conserve what you think is of value from the 60`s, there was a lot of good stuff from the era afterall, especially the music!

I LOVE old fashioned guys. I'm a simple girl, I like the simple things in life. I love spending nights curled up on the couch with my bf watching movies and cuddling. Ordering take-out and eating it at home and watching a movie is my idea of a great night. A walk in the park at night is my idea of a nice date.

For the most part, I have had the same experience with dating as you. Guys would seem to like me, and some would even make me their gf. However after some time they would get bored or be looking for the 'next best thing'. I kept asking why and some would say I was boring.

Don't feel bad. Some people just feel like everyday needs to be this amazing experience. Well real life happens and lets be realistic. Some days you spend cleaning, doing laundry, cooking or paying bills. Those aren't exciting things, but they need to be done.

I think the problem you are experiencing is just the stage of life these people are in. They are at the stage where they have stars in their eyes. They believe that they are going to have this amazing life and there is always going to be something better out there, so why settle at this point?

So they move on, find someone they think is better, and they repeat this pattern. You need to find someone who is looking for more stability and is going to be realistic about relationships and life in general.

Someone who will be happy with those simple dates and can appreciate a guy like you. It may take time, but trust me you will find someone who values you :)

Old fashioned guys are nice but sometimes they're not for me. I definitely don't like everyday has to be awesome but I'm define toy adventurous. I love drives and watching the stars but I also love crazy trips to India.
Any who though my social ideas aren't very old fashioned. I feel that when it comes to social or political stances I'm actually pretty modern, and I need someone who matches those ideas.
Also I hate when people say 1960's relationships because yeah that could be gentlemen, but they could also beat the crap out of their wives behind close doors (you may not do or think that, but it's just what comes to my mind). But I do think being a gentle man is nice so that's a plus.
I don't mind sex, I like sex it's fun. I'm okay with waiting if you want to; but a lot of the time guys want virgins, and that's not me. I definitely like meeting another's family, but if my family or yours doesn't like one of us I'm assuming you won't really care (I don't really care because I'm dating you, not my family).

i think your a great guy, dont listen to the trend of the 21st century, most of it is toxic, just be who you are now - gentlemen are a dying trend but they are still by far the most loved trend, though i have to say my bf is just like you lol, same qualities but more into being a helpful and caring towards people in general, except my fathers gung-ho about our relationship and my mom is well, you know.. i can't meet his parents because they're both dead :\

in my opinion i think the gentleman + confident guy + fun-guy trend would be the best combination lol, but that's pushing a bit too far xD

To be completely honest I think the ideal guy is someone who has a nice sense of humor and who doesn't say anything really offensive. And you can meet the best people by just being a sweet, caring, and also dorky person. It makes girls incredibly happy if you drop some subtle compliments here and there to make her smile. And try to find things in common with each other and try intresting yourself in things she likes to know her better and maybe both of you can have fun geeking out over video games and cats. Because girls really like when guys show an interest in things they enjoy. I hope that helps a bit ;3 good luck. Plus, I think old-fashion is great because most guys nowadays are all assholes only dating chicks for the size of their boobs. So keep being a gentleman and you'll get the nice girls ;)

Depends on your definition of old fashion and exactly how old fashion we're talking about.

Me, personally, I don't like "traditional/macho" guys.
BUT I do love the "old fashion" love. Writing poems to each other, getting flowers, exclusive relationships (NO CHEATING!) etc.

I do, however, also like to pay my fair share of dates. I don't think it should be all the guy's responsibility just cuz he's a guy.

So it depends what he defines traditional and exactly how traditional we're talking.

I totally being treated like a lady, with flowers and movies and stars and all the romantic stuff.

But the dynamics of the relationship are also very important.

I have been dating a guy for a while, but he was taking baby steps too slowly. He would take me to a drive at night to watch the starts or to a jazz concert, I totally loved that but in more than 2 months of dating he never took my hand, nor tried to kiss me, but he would send me long text messages about how deep my beautiful eyes could look into his soul.

It was nice but the sparks and the flame of the few first dates were never there so I wouldn't fall in love with him.

For me old fashioned would be awesome, but with passionate kisses under those stars :)

I absolutely love a man that has manners, can make me laugh, and is kind to others... but I also like a guy that knows execution and restraint. Don't put all of your cards out on the table. It is easy to take advantage of someone who puts you on a pedestal. So my answer to your question is both yes and no. Yes- girls, like me, appreciate good manners and romantic dates (occasionally). No- it is easy to take advantage of a super nice guy. Be confident and somewhat "hard to get." It adds that "want what I can't have" factor. It's a challenge, it's sexy, and it makes those "old fashioned" special outings that much more special.

Don't listen to the nay sayers. There are indeed women out there who cam appreciate what y i u have to offer, which from what I've read is quite a bit. I personally think that the entire concept of dating has been myted out by the over use of social media. People would rather send an emoji to say how they feel than simply talking to each other. It's crazy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with preferring to take things slowly and get to know each other. Don't ever give up your values because you think it's what women want. I have an issue with the old fashioned guys who want to make a house wife out of me and expect me to stay at home with the kids, cook, clean and do all of the chores around the house. I like old fashioned guys in the sense that they have old fashioned morals and values. The one who believes in chivalry and the one who believes in waiting to have sex until marriage.

Using old fashioned as an excuse for being sexist/misogynistic - no.

But in what you described, I would say yes. As long as you don't over do it, then it can get a bit too cheesy and annoying.

I like those type of guys as long as it doesn't seem fake or too much. Try to change it up a bit sometimes so that they don't always know what to expect (like not always opening the door for them). They could be leaving out of boredom, even though most of the things you said in the update actually sound nice. The places you go for dates seem exciting just make sure you make the date itself exciting too.

Old fashioned guys are great to an extent... I can't deal with guys that expect me to cook and clean all the time on top of having an exhausting full time job though. If I cook for us he does the dishes and vice versa, stuff like that is okay.

I voted for no because in my opinion outer appearance creates another string that you can take hold from a woman. I didn't say that you should follow the trends but I also didn't say that you should let the time pass you by. You should balance the outer and inner appearance and the outcome should come out nicely. If you can't do it, you can just show the gentlemanly and true you and that should do the trick :)
