Should I give up on my FWB? He joined the military?

He left for basic training around mid march and I didn't really ask any details bit now that he's gone I really miss him a lot and I feel bad rhat he doesn't like me enough to let me write to him. He told me he didn't want a gf because he didn't want commitment (I'm not his type). Should I jist give up and move on? He also went to a co ed training post, so I assume he'll try and date around

I met my ex wife Jan 10 of 1989. I went into the Air Force Feb 14 89 and came home may 27 and proposed. I wanted to go into the Military without any attachments and no girlfriend. Since I had never had a girlfriend I didn't see this as being any kind of issue. My recruiter took 4 of us to a museum in Wright Patterson AFB that Jan 10. I was on unemployment just waiting to go to basic. She was a senior in High School and wanted to get out of school. Neither of us cared about planes so we spent the whole day talking. I fought with myself if I should ask her out or not. But I did. we were together 25 years and have 3 boys.
When I was in basic training it was before any electronics.. not that he will have access to any electronics anyway. everything has to be written. I received 1 - 7 letters every single mail call. The TI would joke that I must get more pussy then anyone in the group. he didn't know they were all from the same woman. If you don't have previous military experience then Basic is a Hell that no civillian can even understand. I would not have wished it on my worst enemy at the time. But the longer I was out of training the more I understood it. Now I think everyone should have to at least go through Basic Training.
But those letters were SO crucial to me. I knew I was in love and wanted to marry her before I even left but that helped solidify it.
Once you go from Basic to tech school ANYONE can get laid. I was propositioned by 6 women including 2 that wanted a 3some. I turned every one of them down because I cannot cheat.
If this guy isn't in love with you, then you need to let it go. He is going to have all kinds of opportunity and things put in front of him. If the thought of you doesn't drive him to stay true to you, he will forget quick.
But If you can get his mailing information, and you really want him, start writing like crazy. He can't keep them from arriving. He will be grateful for it. And you might win him over...
