Boyfriend moving overseas without me?

My boyfriend just told me he is going to Australia. This is a long time coming, we both knew it would happen, but the original plan was for me to wait 3 months max before I joined him, but now that isn't really possible anymore.

It may take much, much longer before I can join him. The problem is that there is a possibility he might get tired of not seeing me and trying to obtain a long distance relationship, and would get another girl over there (either behind my back or after breaking up with me).

I am in shock and have no idea what to think, say, feel or do. I feel like I don't even want to see him before he goes because it will make it harder for me. He is leaving the end of the month and I feel like I'm having a nightmare, just hoping to wake up soon, but knowing that I won't.

I really need advice here. Anything. Thoughts, opinions, solutions, anything.

I always say that you should ask your partner what he thinks about long distance relationships. Why exactly is he moving to Oz? Is it a job or opportunity? What has changed that you cannot go there with him within the time you have stipulated? What happens if YOU get bored of him?

You also need to ask yourself if you would be happy moving to Oz with him. What happens if you break up, will you stay there or move back? Moving countries is a huge and daunting task, it is not something to be done on a whim or based on a relationship, unless you guys are committed in what you are doing.

My advice to you would be to see if it is worth going to Oz with him and to make sure your reasons are sound. The worst thing that can happen is being alone in Oz because you made a decision in a mindset that did not think things through well enough. At the moment you are hurting, which is normal as this is a very stressful time for you, but I do urge you to think things through before moving along with him. Like I suggested, ask him if long distance will work and take it from there. The hardest thing you may have to do is let him go.

LDR's don't work. Especially a world away (saying). You don't get the physical intimacy as much as you want anymore and well, that can cause stress emotionally. You wind up getting in to fights, in which one of you cheats on the other, usually it's the girl first
