The two most common foundations of a relationship are friendship and physical attraction. Both have their merits in a relationship, but as for a foundation, friendship is the more important of the two to chose from. Some guys want to build a lasting friendship with a girl before they start to get attached. One of my friends only dated a girl after they had been friends for a few weeks. I would honestly not worry too much about it since he clearly is already pulling the trigger.
