My Boyfriend Won't Quit Weed :(

He knows I don't like it no matter how 'non-harmful' it can be, but he still continues to do it even if he says he's going to quit. I keep trying to tell him that he has a problem and he's addicted but he won't admit it and just keeps telling me excuses like 'it prevents diseases' or 'its good for your health'. I honestly find it so unattractive and unnecessary and I love him and want him to be okay but he won't listen. It makes me so sad and I don't know what to do about it anymore.

Well, personally, I don't think weed is that bad. It is relatively harmless, but I do think it's something that should be done occasionally, not all the time.

That being said, it's hard to give up something you enjoy because someone else has a different opinion on it than you do. Since he believes there's no problem with it, he likely thinks your opinions against weed are silly or unreasonable. People generally don't stop doing things that they enjoy unless they WANT to stop doing it.

That being said, it's up to you to decide how much it bothers you and if it's something you are willing to live with or not. If it's something that you're seriously against, you may have to realize that he isn't the right person for you, despite how much you care for him, move on, and find someone who has similar viewpoints as you on issues that you feel are important.

Weed isn't addictive in the least bit, so really there's nothing for him to 'admit' other than the fact that he does it. Which you already know.

If you can't deal with it then I'd leave him, I'm sure he'd rather be with a chick he can smoke up with anyways.

I had a small patch of cancerous cells on my forearm, I rubbed hemp-oil (which is made from weed) on the spot 2 times a day for 2 months and it was gone. Weed DOES cure certain illnesses.

Also, I always had straight F's in school. I can't concentrate for sh*t and I have really bad mood swings, but anyway, I started smoking when I was 15 and my grades went from all F's to B's and C's.

But my main point is that if you can't deal with it, you should find someone with the same 'views' as you, no matter how brainwashed those views my be.

Ummm weed doesn't help you learn at all it actually limits the capacity to absorb and retain information maybe your doing good in school because you THINK its helping you but its not and unless you want to get cancer (and I don't think weeds gonna be very helpfull for you after that )

I know it cures illnes's but I'm trying to say is that he's using that as an excuse to ignore me and keep doing it! trust me I know all the good things about it but I'm just a classy girl and have a problem with things like that. I find it trashy, and un-humain. there are so many ways to feel better that doesn't involve an illegal substance, in my mind its bad, but he doesn't seem to care.

I understand both your points. But there has never been a medical case documented where marijuana was the cause of cancer, and there have been thousands of tests run on the memory and brain functions of smokers and non-smokers that determined that marujuana has little to no effect on those regions, unlike Alcohol, Caffiene, Tabbacco and Anti-depressants, which in fact, have ALL been shown to decrease brain function even when taken in small amounts.

Let me just put it this way, and you can look this up, because it is FACT.

The emotions you're feeling because of this problem between you and your boyfriend, (Confusion, anger, disrespect, sadness) these emotions, will have a more long-term negetive impact on your body and mind than if you were to use marijuana everyday.

You obvously have a lot of class, and I respect that. But your boyfriend has knowlage, personal experiance and science-based facts on his side.

Educate yourself or leave him.

Im not effing inhaling a plant and smelling like sh*t after, THATS MY POINT. don't come here and tellme all these scientific fact because I know thm and don't care- I don't think you understand how badly I dispise the thought of weed. I was just raised by a very proper family, therefor I DO NOT care about how AMAAAZZZING marijuana is, because in my mind its just a disgusting way to feel better. I would rather die then have someone catching me/me catching myself do such an ugly thing.

You obviously have no idea how badly personality comes before things like that, do you? He's trully an amazing guy I wouldn't give up for the worl, but everyone had theyre bad qualitys and weed just happens to be one of them. I'm just simply asking for help on how I can get him to stop a bit. That's all.

I think you should leave him. If he is already not respecting your wishes, how is he going to act five years down the road? He will continue to do what ever pleases him regardless of how it makes you feel. I don't think you should continue to put up with this behavior. You should leave and if he really likes/loves you then he will quit so he can try to get you back. Sometimes it a strong stance to make someone take note and listen. Good luck!
