Is it controlling to ask your bf/gf to delete tinder app?

I asked my boyfriend (of 2 months) to delete his tinder app since we're exclusive, and he says he "doesn't use it, it's just there." So I said, "if you don't use it, then what's the problem with getting rid of it?" He deleted it but said "you should trust me more." I do trust him, and we have a secure relationship, it was just something that I saw on his phone today, and it made me uncomfortable (having once have been an active tinder user).

No, tinder is for hookups- why would they need it?

Let me share this with you: If a guy is completely genuine and really wants to make a relationship work with you, they will delete their profile and get rid of it. I met my boyfriend on Tinder, we have been together 7 months and totally committed to only each other. We moved quickly in the beginning but each to their own. We already live together as well since 2 months ago.

We became in a relationship (yes boyfriend/girlfriend) at the 1 month mark. We were both serious about wanting a relationship and wanted to really give ourselves a chance at having a great relationship so we both deleted our profiles at that point. He even sent me screenshots of the deletion and confirmation that the account was deleted.

I trust him 100% and I know he would never join back up while we are together. If he is not taking it down after 2 months and you are mutually exclusive to each other then I'm afraid his head and heart may not be where yours is unfortunately.

Talk to him again and tell him it makes you feel uncomfortable and that you feel that as long as he has it active that you don't feel that he is treating the relationship with the respect it deserves and that you don't feel he is taking the relationship as seriously as what you are. Maybe this is a good time to have an open and honest communication session about whether you are both at the same level of the relationship and whether he is happy.

Its scary doing this because you are being assertive and telling him what you need in the relationship to feel secure and sometimes when such a discussion ensues it can almost act as an 'out' for the other person if they are not feeling it so to speak.

But at least you know where you both stand and if it isn't going to go anywhere then best you know now before you invest anymore of your heart and time into this. Goodluck!

Well, maybe he just did not thing about deleting it?
I'd say the chances of deleting the app are actually higher if you think about using it again but don't want to / are trying to make it work.
If you just don't care whatsoever and don't spend half a thought about it, you won't think about removing it either.

If the boyfriend won't uninstall it when asked or reinstalls it when he got a new phone etc, then that's red lights. But other than that...

It's weird for your boyfriend to still have tinder on his phone and it's perfectly normal for you to want it gone...
But in a perfect world you would just trust him 100% and just KNOW that he would never use it.

In the end it does not matter. He could reinstall it anytime any way and hide it. So if he really wanted to cheat on you, nothing is holding him back. Also there is not only tinder. You have to trust him anyway.

However, it he does not use the app and it irritates you that it's there, deleting is was the right thing to do.

He should've done it off his own back really, it's not a big deal to ask someone to take their dating ad down once you're in a relationship. I've always deleted mine as soon as I've been on 2 dates.

If you are exclusive and in a serious relationship, you shouldn't be on any dating sites. Unless you have an open relationship of course.
