Why does he say he loves you then stops talking to you?

hi..i just recently started talking again to a guy that I had dated over 8 years ago...I'm 28 now and he's 32..our relationship before had not been too good...he was the type of guy that didn't like to be with just one girl..i knew about it then and was okay with it...but we ended up splitting, he just stopped coming to see me or answering my calls, so we went our separate ways...a friend of mine found him on MySpace a few weeks ago and we started talking again...he initiated it by sending me 2 messages saying that he missed me and still loved me and that he wished he had never screwed up back then...so we started talking through instant message every day for about 2 weeks...he usually started the convo at first...he would say he loved me still and wanted to be with me all the time and that he thought about us being married...but he would also talk about sex a lot and then a lot of the time he would sign off with out saying bye or anything..now for the past week he has slowly stopped talking to me...at first he said that he was using his cell and wasn't getting messages

( we use yahoo im) and I started to get upset because I would send him a message and he wouldn't answer me..now he doesn't reply at all...I've sent him emails and even asked him just to give me a simple yes or no answer if he wants to be with me and I've gotten nothing from him ..we live far away from each other but he has told me that he would come see me...i gave him my number in an email but he has not called...i would think that if he didn't want to talk to me anymore he would at least say so..what should I do? just stop talking to him and see if he makes the first move? I really still love this guy and I always have but why would a guy tell you these things and then just stop talking? I'm sorry its so long thank you

thank you everyone for your replies...you all had very helpfull answers...and it was all basically the same ..that if he wanted to contact me he would ...i have realized this and I'm moving on..even though I still love him ..i deserve better than this

You don't need to find out why he'd say all that if he didn't mean it. Guys seem to find it very easy. You said yourself he never bothered to say "bye", simply signed off and talked about sex a lot. Sorry if this hurts, but he doesn't really care about you. If he did, he would've treated you with at least common decency.

Why did you think to give him another chance or believe what he says after what happened those eight years ago? He obviously hasn't changed.

He might've wanted to have a "relationship" with you, since it's an easy way to be able to have sex, whereas he'd have to woo and do all the work for other girls he didn't know. But from the way he's been acting, it's clear - let him go. Forever.

It'll be hard because I guess you sincerely hoped for a new start. But believe me, he isn't worth your time.

He isn't replying. Well, that's a shame. He might even be "very sorry" after a few months or a few years again. Well, that's an even bigger shame! But get rid of him ... you'll be so thankful once you do. Give a chance to some real, genuine guys out there. You ARE better than this and deserve a decent lad.

Let him message you, call you or even ignore you forever if he wants. You don't care anymore - you are moving on. From now on, ignore HIM, no matter what he says or does. It isn't about revenge but about being a strong person and wanting to rid yourself or rubbish. It's a shame you've even given him your number. You saw he wasn't responding and it's clear that he was silly enough to be only after one thing.

Don't be silly! you know him. That's why he's not replying because maybe he's talking with you as well as other girls simulaneously. He's such a player! He just said those wonderful things such as he thought about you getting married, he misses you, he loves you, etc. etc. just because he wanted to have a back up! Maybe when he doesn't feel like being with the other girl at least he have you! And since he already got you again, and since he knows that you like him so much it'll be easy. He talks about those beautiful things so you'll like him so much again and he will lure you into having sex with him. Just like what you said, he's talking about sex most of the time. That's what he really wants!

If he really likes you, he will call you or visit you! He will find a way just to be with you.

Don't ever ever chase him please! You deserve someone better! NOT a player! those guys are just losers. Have self worth and think of yourself. Can you imagine being with someone who's like that? A guy should make you feel special! He's not even a gentleman.

He is NOT worth it! He is just playing you and is enjoying that you are chasing after him. If he really did like you, he would want to see you and talk to you. He is NOT in love with you - if he was, he would not be torturing you like this. He will never commit to you and he is probably dating a dozen other girls at the same time. Ignore him. Don't message him, don't call him, don't contact him in any way. He should be trying to get a hold of you if he really wanted to, so obviously he doesn't care about you. He could have a partner, she sprung him or he realizes its not going to happen, also might be reliving the past, its nice to reminisce. Could be anyting, but if a guy doens contact you reply to you he's not into you or he can't be into you for whatever reason, give him some time he might contact you or he might not and you won't have to wonder...
