This girl likes me, but is afraid of a relationship! Why?

I've known this girl since 7th grade. I took her to my junior prom and after that we started to feel some chemistry. We've kissed on 2 separate occasions, and I know she likes me. However, whenever I feel like we are getting close to starting a relationship, she says she just wants to be friends. 2 months later we're back to almost being together (cycle repeats). This has happened 2 or 3 times. Recently my friends squeezed some info out of her; she really likes me but is afraid of having a boyfriend because she's never had one. I've only had one girlfriend and it didn't get very serious so I'm not experienced either, but I know what I feel for her is real. I really want to make this girl mine.I'm a really nice guy (I like to think).

What can I do to reassure her I won't hurt her or anything? How can I make her comfortable enough to date me? I'm so sick of waiting for her, I think she needs a nudge in the right direction! She's driving me crazy!

Just be there for her. Reassure her, tell her you care about her, that you won't hurt her. Make her feel safe. Spend time with her, smile with her, and comfort her when she's sad. You seem to know what the problem is, so just casually go about easing her anxiety by not pushing the subject of dating, but just being more and more loving, caring, and understanding. Make sure she knows she can tell you anything.

Also, you don't know if she has some other reason she doesn't want to get together with a guy, she may have been traumatized in the past, you don't know. So don't push anything, just be there for her. If the frustration gets bad enough and you want to try nudging her, go ahead, but just be aware it could set things back REALLY far.

Do NOT rush her! Girls need time to think things through and decide what is best. Just keep spending time with her and being there for her through everything. Hopefully, she'll notice how patient you are and that'll make her realize even more what a swell guy you are.

Also, ask her to take a weekend break with you and share a bedroom. If she agrees, still ask her before sex if she wants it, but most people pick up on that.
