I have a constant battle with this because I am the world's worst about not replying to messages, calls, what have you.
My family and close friends have come to understand that it isn't that they don't mean much to me, it's because I'm busy as hell 24/7. I work 6 or 7 days a week as a waitress, so when I get home I'm dead tired. But I also have a 2 year old son who usually refuses to sleep until he can see me when I get home. That means I don't get to rest, I don't get much sleep, and then I wake up and do it again.
Between my son, work, trying to help my family renovate our house to move back into it and out of my grandparents' house, it's a LOT. And I would love to have some quiet, peaceful alone time for myself in there every now and again. Hence why I'm up at 3am on this app lmao. I'm introverted and quiet, so my job takes a mental toll everyday too.
Relationships are different, especially newer, more fragile ones. You shouldn't have to talk every minute of the day, that's insecure and ridiculous, but there should be some level of communication just to touch base and see how each other are doing. That's part of why I'm not in a relationship at the moment, no time for all of that.
There are also ways to make someone a priority without talking to them 24/7. Mature adults who are also busy usually understand that you aren't refusing to make them a priority by not replying immediately every time they text/call/etc.
You know this attitude kind of grates on me, and unless I can clearly see that I have been neglectful with my communication someone doing this to me generally just makes me walk away. I have a lot of priorities. My husband, my family, his family, my friends, my job, my god children, charitable endeavours, my pets blah blah blah. Even though one text takes a minute, how many minutes do all of my priorities take and should some of them always be pushed to the back to make room for my main ones? Sometimes there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to get through all of ones responsibilities and make everyone feel like #1 and ones who are understanding of that generally stay near the top of the list because I appreciate that
Mhm. If you know other people very well then this topic wouldn't be issue. New relationship is a whole different matter. Unless you have spend plenty of time with the person, it is hard to understand how busy they are with their personal and work lifestyle.
There is, but as we get older people are generally more and more clear on what they can commit to, not only in terms of lifestyle but what they’re realistically willing to give. I just think people choose not to listen to that and hope that person will change to make them more of a priority instead of taking the situation at face value and leaving if their availability doesn’t match what one needs to feel valued. Not everyone is compatible
Thank you! I agree I dont have enough time in a day to make everyone a priority. And if they're sitting around all day waiting for me to call and text them that tells me that person is not busy or have enough responsibility.
You can’t please everybody. No matter what you do there will be always at least one person who won’t appreciate you for what you do. I can understand where you’re coming from and it does suck when people don’t reciprocate, but sometimes when you’re a nice people don’t owe you anything.
And I don’t think those who do these kind of things are actually assholes, sometimes they have a lot of things going on that they don’t want you to know. It’s okay for people to have their space and time without you, it’s harsh but you can’t do much about it but find another person who is like you.
I feel that way when my husband spends a lot of time on his phone talking to other women like when were on a date or just having a conversation or if i ask him something he will make me wait to finish his text etc. And if i ask about the other women he defends them in every way which makes me wonder why i bother caring
I dont have the time or patience to make everyone a priority. I'm busy busy busy work 6 days a week, school, church and at the end of the day I do not want to be bothered with people. i just want to rest have time to me. there's not enough time in a day to satisfy everyone. get over it
Agreed. My friends have come to understand that I work 6 or 7 days a week, I have a 2 year old son, a house to renovate, and shit to do. I'd also like to have some me time somewhere in there so that I don't lose my everloving mind.
Relationships are different to me, it requires some level of communication every day. Not all day, but at least a little to touch base and be considerate. That's why I'm not in one atm.
