Guys, would you ever do a fake proposal prank on your gf?

Today, my boyfriend and I were watching a couple prank videos and we stumbled upon a fake proposal prank one.

While my boyfriend thought it wasn't that bad, I expressed my dislike. The girl on the video was really upset and in tears. My boyfriend thought it was kind of funny but his expression got serious so fast when I reminded him that if he ever did a prank like that, the relationship would be over.

I'm all for pranks, funs and games but a fake proposal isn't a joke. That is cruel and worth breaking up over. I regard this the same as the cheating pranks. Both hurt someone's feelings.

I'm surprised the girl on the video still stayed with him after that. Joking about being with you for the rest of your life isn't a joke to me.

It seems a bit cruel. To me, there are certain places and subjects you don’t go for humor, and likewise, pulling a prank.

Pulling an “engagement prank” to me just seems nasty, unless you absolutely know both people do not want to get married or secretly want to get married (even if they say they don’t). If EVERYONE is in on it, maybe. But that’s not likely.

Stuff like “Cheating, pregnancy, (and a few other subjects), you don’t want to prank about.

It’s also a kind of “Boy who cried ‘wolf’ situation. A fake proposal, a fake baby announcement, etc... what happens if that DOES happen? At the very least, if it’s legit THIS time, and you convince them, then you’ve still given them a reminder of you pranking them before, and it’s likely to leave a downer in their minds. It’s a level of trust there that would be a bad idea to violate.

I’ve seen some guys “prank” their girlfriends with a fake proposal and it’s awful. I can’t understand how someone would think that’s funny. I would break up with the person.
I also can’t stand these types of “pranks” that couples do:
1) break up pranks
2) dead boyfriend/girlfriend pranks
3) cheating pranks
4) home invasion pranks
I just can’t understand how putting your partner through those horrible emotions is so funny to the point where one would feel the need to record it and put it online for views.

i honestly hate pranks in general. they’re never that funny, and always at the expense of someone else. i’d also question if the girl was in on the prank? especially if u said they stayed together after some bullshit like that...

There are some things that should never. . . NEVER. . . be the subject of a "joke." Proposal, I cheated on you, your mother died, etc. Who in their right mind would look at such a thing and laugh? I think such "jokes" are extremely mean-spirited and the "joke" designation should be ignored.

I frequently reminds others that if you are the only one laughing at your "joke," it wasn't too damned funny!

It's not a joke but pranks are ment to mess with you that's the whole reason it's a prank there's plenty of people online that joke about cheating and do stuff like that and plenty of people find it funny but in the end it's a joke it's a prank and I'm sure they grew on that and they will eventually get merried for real one day. The world is way to serious though to let little things even though it may seem big it's still little things get to you just brush it off and keep moving maybe he wanted to see the reaction just to be prepared or he was just an idiot ether way it's a messed up prank and I wouldn't do it but I can understand why it's done

I would think it would take the fun and excitement out of anything else that ever happens because you couldn't be confident that it was real.
