What causes a guy to have an affair behind his girlfriend, or wife's, back?

Yes, I know girls do this also, I will do the one about why the girls do this separately, for now the focus is on the guys.

I know some of you have had first hand knowledge about this, so what was the reason in your experience or that of anyone that you know?

A. He simply thinks he can get away with it and no one will ever know

B. The relationship is already in trouble and is heading in a bad direction so he just wants to have another girl to run to before ending this one

C. He didn't do it of his own free will, an experience seductress lured him with sudden, and unexpected, sexual desire that he was unable to resist

D. All of the above are possible reasons for infidelity

Honestly I don't see any good reason to cheat on your partner, were you a boy or a girl. That's just pathetic, if you can't be serious in your relationship, then end it right away, don't start seeking someone else body to fill your needs while giving false hope yo your partner.
Only the worst kind of person would cheat on their partner without breaking up or telling them.
And if he/she was lured/drugged/really alcoholized or whatever reason that put them in a confusion state. They should tell everything to their partner as soon as possible.

My own experience: my ex husband had a very attractive and young colleague. Both were friendly beyond limits. I found it later. Age difference between me and that girl was the main attraction as my ex thought the other girl was more open, sexually attractive and young. He has been cheating on me mainly for sex purpose.

- Being emotionally or sexually rejected by his wife would be a top reason.
- Being bored with the the relationship and wanting to experience the rush of pursuing a new partner and the "new relationship energy" that comes along with it.
- Wanting to try taboo sexual activities that his wife is not into.
- Feeling insecure and needing the validation of being desired by a woman other than the one that he is bound to by marriage.
- Feeling trapped in a failing marriage but lacking the courage to actually file for divorce. Possibly trying to "test the waters" to see if he could be happy with someone else.

Constant nagging, she is barely in the mood for sex unless he does something. for her , sje uses sex as a weapon he has to earn it by pleasing her , she is selfish , she compares him to other men to make him feel less of a man and not good enough, what most Girls dont realize is a guy needs to feel wanted also , if he doesn't feel wanted that he is just a convienence to her he Will more than likely cheat or leave her ass , or he will stay with her and cheat cuz he still loves her but doesn't know why she is a constant bitch to him or it's cheaper to keep her lol

For girlfriend, i'd say generally it's because they crave variety or just … don't care.

For wife, the above, plus another group where their marital sex life is dead, but for reasons (often involving kids) they don't want to leave the family unit, even though the relationship is basically dead.

As a way to save the relationship with the women he loves that are going through things making her sex drive non existent for several years. Getting that need filled avoids making it something that festers and destroys the relationship.

I cheated on my ex. Soon after, I confessed and we broke up. She wanted to try to work it out but I knew it was over and didn't want to keep it going. I'd been ignoring a lot of the toxic things in our relationship and it really opened my eyes. I wish I'd handled it better. It shouldn't take something like that for me to finally realize it needed to end but there's no there no doubt it was the right choice to break up.
