I don't put my relationship status because I feel its non of peoples business aand I don't need all my guy friends hitting me up on facebook if I put single (which has happened) and I wouldn't want to list in a relationship unless I'm really serious and its for certain we are together. So mmany people make a big deal about relationship status especially the ones that change it the minute they start dating someone and then change it back to single when they break up (which I've seen) so in turn I just leave mine out completely.
It can mean number of things...One reason being that people just grow tired of fb and stops putting everything on there. I for one used to post relationship status on there and now I don't put it there anymore...and I don't plan to put it back there anytime soon. Some people like to keep some things private.
It usually means they're in limbo about the relationship. Not fully in a relationship but not ready to go on the market yet.
But overall, it's a privacy thing.
If someone breaks up, and wants to avoid the guys flocking like wolves to "comfort" the chick... privacy is a nice thing. We know what happens otherwise.

I don't post my relationship status because I don't believe its anyone's business but my own. I really don't want my whole life ruled by some little cartoon heart.
My relationship status is hidden. I did so because I got tired of seeing "single" on my page lol People don't really need to see who I'm with or what my status is anyway.
Well for me I don't hide my status on facebook because its my status and that's the fact, I don't care if what would be their reaction on it I just don't want to deny things :)
they probably broke up and just want privacy
they're not with anyone, but they're not yet ready to be single and looking
From what I have noticed, it usually means someone's relationship is on the rocks.
i just took it off like that.. with no reason. People don't have to know! just ask :P haha
once my friend put it this way "maybe he's sick of being single. maybe he just doesn't want a virtual slap on the face every time he signs on."
other people like privacy.
It could mean that they are in a relationship but do not want to be "exclusive" yet.
