Is he avoiding me or am I imagining things?

I thought I was imagining things but noticed (more than a month) that this guy seems to sign off not long after I sign onto fb. This is outside his work hours.

Background
We know each other through friends. We chat. At one point on fb got to flirting but when it became obvious he was just after sex more or less told him off. We had a few brief - whatever/friend related chats since (one I started, one he started) - chats after and then a 'start anew' chat. I figured if we ran into one another later see how it'd be. He's out of state on a work contract which is coming to an end soon...

For record not seeking his attention or anything. Trying to figure out before he gets back so know what to 'expect' if you would in a way.
