Well, emotional stuff... it is something very strange. Sometimes an emotion is triggered without any reasoning. But as fast as it came, it can be gone too. So the only real cheating in my mind is the one where the emotional cheating is translated into the physical. That is where I draw the line and that's the only thing you can actually see (or say with a kind of certainty) that it is in fact cheating.
So in short: if my girlfriend would have a mental flirt or cheat but doesn't really act upon it and it stays in her mind, I can live with it. As long as she comes home to me and didn't cross the physical boundary. If I would apply it otherwise: it would get very complex and unnecessarily exhausting.
Personally I don't think it's even a thing, I mean it's nearly impossible to spend time with somebody and as a human not have any emotional connection at all to that person, so if they are funny and make you laugh and your so is ok with that then your fine but if not they can claim it's an emotional affair.
Frankly then given that the term itself is so badly defined and so multi faceted for which it can be applied to any situation it is then no more than a justification to break up with somebody for no more than the fact that the person doing the breakup is doing so on the flimsiest of charges to assuage their own guilt for breaking up the relationship.
Its worse and i can't believe im saying this, but i kinda only consider physical stuff cheating... so like if you're physically flirting or messaging or touching etc then thats cheating. But if you secretly like them, then you're technically not cheating if you dont act on it. When i think back on it, i never thought i cheated but i did kinda entertain people who were like “i’d be a better boyfriend for you.” Like i turned them down and told them to stop but i never really escaped the situation and kinda just blushed at their statements. So it makes me question now if i was cheating by not exiting the situation immediately
To be honest they seem equally bad. From physically having intimacy with another woman, to actually loving another woman, both I would find really upsetting.
If by emotional cheating, you mean his want to be with someone else... though less serious as he has not acted on it, I would consider the only reason he hadn't to be to do with loyalty, and not love, so in terms of the future of a relationship I would find it as concerning as real cheating.
However I mean I'm only 18 I've never encountered any of these problems sooooo I wouldn't really know anyway.

Cheating is cheating. It is the same depending on your relationship. But physical is far worse. In fact emotional cheating depends on what you mean by it. If your not getting yiur emotional needs in a relationship then it's not cheating. You can get that from your friends and even family. But if your using it as a means to connect with somebody else, especially sexually, then it's cheating. It's all about intent.

If she so much as kisses him physically we are done, she is dead to me and will forever disgust me.

If she just started to crush a little due to too much time together I MIGHT be able to get past it if she totally goes no contact.
if you mean flirting then it all depends on the relationship for example I've had relationships where they could completely talk to and see other guys but it was only because I trusted them enough to do that knowing that I am their main partner and the others are their side ho's now I know that this won't work in every relationship maybe there's not that much trust but that's what I mean every situation is different because this going to be took in a serious as not allowing the other person in the relationship to have friends because of trust issues which I personally don't agree with but it's kind of up to that relationship anyway I'm rambling main point is I believe flirting is okay if both of you think it is if you can confidently tell your significant other in a sit-down that it's fine then it should be no problem but if you have to hesitate then maybe you should let them know that they shouldn't because the trust just isn't there
Not really fond on the whole concept of cheating. In it's structure it places expectations, which gives rise to disappointment and limitations, boundaries that a person places around another saying you go beyond my imposed fence your doing wrong.
People are free to do as they please and by no means are obligated to live to another's expectations and boundaries.
In life everyone in on an individual path, we often forget that this still remains true even when we partner with another.
Along these individual paths people will come and go in whom we are meant to learn from and grow. These branches of our tree are free to be explored.
I think emotional is worse. Physically can easily be explained by the fact that our bodies want/need things. Sex is great, and sometimes we crave physical things other than what our significant other has. Emotional cheating means that you value a human being more than your significant other from a deep mental level. Nothing can ever repair that. ie: You love traveling and camping but your significant other hates it a lot and then your mistress can't get enough of it.
I still don’t get what people mean with emotional cheating? Since when is cheating something non physical lol? You’ve cheated if you actively pursue someone else and the end goal is/was having sex. Doesn’t matter if there’s an emotional connection or not.
Sometimes the verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse.
But in my opinion, physical abuse is worse than any type of verbal or emotional abuse.
The reason being is one can heal verbal or emotional abuse. Journal writing, talking to friends about it, seeing a therapist.
But it's harder to heal if the physical abuse did permanent damage.

Physical cheating hurts because it’s an act of betrayal and disloyalty. Like.. I can’t imagine someone physically cheating on their partner without their being at least some level of lies or being somewhat emotionally distanced from your actually partner.
Both bad but I guess emotional is a little worse considering they are gaining feelings and really getting to know someone where physical cheating is still very bad but to the cheater they just think they got off but still go back to their partner like nothing happened
Of course it's not nearly as bad as fucking them, but it surely is cheating. You're investing all of your closest feelings and emotions with someone other than your primary relationship.
Many of these turn into physical or sexual relationships should the parties actually meet up. There is generally a lot of pent up excitement.
My God. There is no fucking such thing as "emotional cheating." Holy shit. You mean "talking?" Because that's what "emotional cheating" is.
A person does not OWN their partner. Their partner is just that-- a partner. Not property. "Emotional cheating" does not exist. Neither does "physical cheating." People want new experiences with new people. This is normal and natural. People need to get their collective heads out of their collective asses.
they are both effective but if the person cared for this partner that cheated it would hurt more if they cheated emotionally because thag means that if this person fell for another person then eventually the feelings they got for their previous partner would fade which would mean that they would stop being emotionally attached to you eventually
the studies done on this in the past showed men think physical cheating is worse while women think emotional cheating is worse. i never understood the concept of emotional cheating and how it could be worse than exchanging reproductive fluids with someone...
From a guy's perspective:
If she hasn't been physical with another man there is still room to turn around. Once she is physical with another man and her husband or boyfriend finds out the relationship is over.
1st and 3rd options are basically same.
for physical cheating person needs to be mentally prepared otherwise it's not possible.
So basically there is no such thing as emotional cheating.
without swayed emotions physical cheating won't happen.
I believe it is worse in theory but not as bad in practice. If your partner has developed an emotional connection with another - then you have been dethroned (even if only temporarily). Now, being with that other person is an emotional need along with being a sexual one. So, if after all that he didn't even do anything physical with her because he didn't want to wrong you - that's a hell of a big deal and you should appreciate it.

Not sure what emotional cheating is? It that just thinking about another in a romantic context (whether or not this other is even aware you are) or something else?
I'm kind of conflicted, cause relationships are normally suppose to be loyal and stuff, but on the other end I don't care what my partner does in their free time as long as we get along and have fun, that's enough for me, so what's the point of exclusivity?
