I am currently dating a guy, we’re both the same age and we have been gf/bf for now a few days. But we have been talking and dating for about 2 months. We talk a lot, we get along well and we seem to have similar interests. I talk to my mom about this, she already met him and she said that she gets a bad vibe from him. She says that she doesn’t foresee him keeping me happy. I have big hopes for the future, I go to college and I’m going to a uni soon. He has a good job, he is in college, he has a traumatic past, and he has goals to become someone as well. We have good communication and we get along great we are always there for each other. But lately it seems like in person, he puts a lot of effort - he is caring, makes me smile, makes me laugh, introduces me to family, likes me for who I am, etc. On text, it seems as if he always has excuses for why he doesn’t text me first or ignores my messages. It’s always either “I’m busy” or “my phone died.” I’ve talked to him about these issues and he said he is planning on getting a new phone this week. Over text, it seems like I put in much more effort. I am 80% the one who texts him good morning or asks how his day is going. Today, he went to work at 6am, posted a video of him on his way, & never texted me good morning when it takes 2 seconds to type. He clearly isn’t busy when he was on his way to work because he got a ride, and his phone wasn’t dead. I’m not messaging him because I want him to realize I’m not gonna be the only one putting in effort. He still hasn’t called or messaged and I guarantee when he does, he will act like nothing is wrong. I’m sick of it and I’m not happy. When I confront him about making excuses he just is like “I’m sorry” and explains the situation - hence, another excuse. It is crap and I want someone who treats me right. We only see each other once a week because of living a distance away. He always responds to me, but it doesn’t seem like he puts in the effort to talk to me. Why? Please help!
