Okay so I was in a long term relationship with my now ex-fiancé. We were together 7 years. He has been unemployed on and off our relationship several years and most recently he has been unemployed for 2 years due to “health” issues due to drinking.. I fitted the rent, his car payment, mines, all the bills. Struggling. His stimulus was deposited into my account a week or two prior to our breakup. I used some of the money to buy his weed, cigs, liquor and etc.
his mom told me not to tell him about it and use it to pay his car payment and stuff I brought..
so eventually he found out it was deposited in my bank account per his mom and now she is telling me to tell him and don’t tell him she knew about it because he doesn’t want me talking to him smh. I am planning on giving him some of it back but how much out of the 1,200? honestly he doesn’t need any because I am now in debt because of supporting him for years. His car payment is 252. Help!! I’m so stressed because now I have to pay him back when he should be paying me for supporting him.

How did it get put in your account when it is sent to his bank according to his tax return? Something doesn't sound right. But it is his money so you need to give it to him as it would be stealing and fraud otherwise. It is not his fault that you were played as his pansy and supporter. You actually enabled him by allowing it. If you are making his car payment - you are kidding me, right? - then tell him that he either lets you keep the money of you stop making his car payments and let it get repossessed. Sounds fair to me. But then I would also tell him he needs to start making his own payments and that it is not your responsibility. If he can afford booze he can afford car payments. Then if he won't take the responsibility to make his own payments then stop making them and let the bank repossess his car. Not your problem, you are just making it your problem.

How was his check deposited into your account? Or is his name also on the account? You might be setting yourself up for a stretch in federal prison or a massive fine. You cannot just spend someone else's money without permission or knowledge like you said you did, even if it's for that person's bills. To be safe, unless you can get it in writing that he is okay with your deducting certain expenses, you need to give him the entire $1200 by check or with him giving you a written receipt, preferably witnesses by an impartial witness..
