Ex girlfriend broke up with me but wants to be friends?

Saw a girl for 2-3 months, we moved very very fast. Had sex within the same week of meeting. Talked every day for hours on end for close to 2 months. She would talk about things she wanted to do with me like move away together, places we should go. She displayed a tonne of interest, and would also ask why i was not replying quick if i didn't reply straight away. She liked me a lot, and i mean a lot.

By the 3 month mark she started growing a little distant cause of our first argument. Eventually yesterday, she broke up with me cause she said the feelings werent there anymore, cause we kept arguing over small things, very little things. She went from hot to cold in such a short time. She said though, that she still wants to be friends with me and to see me for dinner some time soon. What does her behaviour mean, and what should i do?

Personally I feel like many relationships that began in 2020 are questionable. Mostly because we were all locked down, and bored. I’m sure dating apps saw their biggest increases in users ever because everyone wanted someone, whether it was company, a distraction, or an actual relationship. But in the past few months we’ve been returning back to normal. This could be the case for her, and when she thought she was into you, it was just something to fill the time and now she’s realized you weren’t a good match after all, simply a convenient one. Anyway, whether you wanna talk to her still is up to you. It’s hard to go from relationship to friendship, especially if you still have hope of getting back together. If this is you, then do what feels morally right and healthy. You don’t owe her shit, not your time, an explanation, and definitely not friendship.

That’s cool and all, but still, last year was tumultuous for many relationships. Unless you guys live together, then the mandatory time apart gave individuals a lot of time to put things into a different perspective. Hell, even living with someone, 24/7 time together messed up relationships too.

She has a plan for what she wants her man to do, but it doesn't seem like she's comfortable with herself. There's a difference between being in love with someone and being horribly possessive... the fact that a person is barking at you for not texting back soon enough is a red flag on its own. The second flag is the cold behavior she suddenly gives you; someone you just started getting intimate with suddenly act negatively to you. She has problems she needs to solve within herself. You, on the other hand, need to move away from attempting to date her.
