3.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Because of Radical Feminism, which intentionally set about to destroy the nuclear family, and one way to do that was to turn women against being mothers and home-makers via Feminism.
---
Feminist icons have not tried to hide their antipathy for the family unit:- Gloria Steinem described marriage as “an arrangement for one and a half people.”
- Andrea Dworkin wrote, “How can anyone love someone who is less than a full person, unless love itself is domination per se?”
- Kate Millett wrote, “so long as every female, simply by virtue of her anatomy, is obliged, even forced, to be the sole or primary caretaker of childhood, she is prevented from being a free human being.”
- Betty Friedan wrote, “women who ‘adjust’ as housewives, who grow up wanting to be ‘just a housewife,’ are in as much danger as the millions who walked to their own death in the concentration camps… they are suffering a slow death of mind and spirit.”
- Linda Gordon said, “the nuclear family must be destroyed… Whatever its ultimate meaning, the break-up of families now is an objectively revolutionary process.”
- Robin Morgan said “We can’t destroy the inequities between men and women until we destroy marriage.”
- Mary Jo Bane said, “in order to raise children with equality, we must take them away from families and communally raise them.”
- Vivian Gornick said, “being a housewife is an illegitimate profession… The choice to serve and be protected and plan towards being a family maker is a choice that shouldn’t be. The heart of radical feminism is to change that.”
- Helen Sullinger said, “We must work to destroy [marriage]… The end of the institution of marriage is a necessary condition for the liberation of women. Therefore it is important for us to encourage women to leave their husbands and not to live individually with men… All of history must be rewritten in terms of oppression of women.”
You’d think women seeking high-powered careers would be glad to enjoy less competition from other potential workers…
“Not if you understand the feminist ideology,” say Suzanne Venker and the late Phyllis Schlafly, authors of The Flipside of Feminism,
"Feminists realize all too well that they can never achieve a level playing field in the marketplace as long as their male competitors have the advantage of homemaker wives… Women on the left know that in order to get ahead more easily, they must deprive men of their advantage in having stay-at-home wives. The desire to eliminate the full-time homemaker has been feminists’ goal all along. The need for a second income was never the goal."

All of this bile against being a housewife - and how it is supposedly some kind of slavery - completely ignores the fact that the MAN is expected to, you know, go to WORK 12+ hours a day to provide for the family. If being a housewife is slavery, how is a man working in a factory or even in a corporate setting - plus in most cases an arduous daily commute - not even worse slavery? But, to RadFems, it's fine if men suffer - that isn't important - what's important is that women are "free." Men's "freedom" isn't important.
Obviously only a tiny subset of housewives would be legitimate gold-diggers, but those kinds of labels are thrown around BECAUSE of RadFems demonizing housewives, and encouraging women to behave like men and have the same goals as men - which has only made women LESS happy (men too, but, again, men's feelings don't matter). They've even infected some men's views, though I believe most men (who have been out of school at least a few years) don't believe this.45 Reply- +1 y
What to reply to someone who calls me gold digger after I told them that I want to be a housewife?
- +1 y
@Notsomeoneyouknow You simply say that you BOTH agree that you each have a unique role, and that there is no more noble thing to do than to properly raise children. You are both pulling your own weight, and you both feel it's the best thing for you. What anyone else thinks shouldn't really matter to you.
Plus, I assume you love your husband. A gold digger is a woman who trades sex for money/lifestyle with someone she wouldn't otherwise be with if he didn't have money.

+1 yThat’s pretty sexist. Most of them aren’t rich but their husband makes enough money for them to stay at home. They also have house work and take care of kids. I’d maybe only say they were a gold digger if they had a nanny , house keeper and got to spend their husbands money on anything. Or if they screwed the man over extremely badly during a divorce.

Hmm, kind of figured.
Cooking 1hour, cleaning 1h, laundry 1h. Plenty of time for kids and other stuff.
As a 1/2 kid from a single mother, i can tell you 1 parent can learn a new proffesion in an university, work, and clean the house a bit.
Plenty of time left over, just sitting at home. Needs better planning. Is even easier now with robot vacuums, dishwashers, washer/dryers etc etc. Child care places and etc too.
The family would be better off working, less risk or stress. More income to pay off debt faster and to invest. The guy doesn't want to work forever too.
With both working, they could reduce their hours to 6 or 5 per day. And still earn more money. + get tons of quality time together with a better outcome of the future. - +1 y
Don’t you think that’s a little presumptuous and minimizing to assume you have everyone’s schedule figured out? Different families run differently. Some homes are much larger than others. Some family members have special diet needs.
I’m a working wife myself and I know full well what it’s like to work and provide *and* do all the cooking, cleaning, etc as I had to do it all and nurse my husband back to health after he nearly died in a work accident.
I enjoy my line of work and I’d rather have my own money to spend at my leisure after I’ve made a 50% contribution to rent, utility, groceries, and pet expenses.
However, I also appreciate women who put that much more time and effort into keeping the home for the family.
I don’t think one is better than the other, and the efforts of women and men should both be honored and appreciated. - +1 y
I don't presume how fast or slow somebody else is or etc. I can and so can many others do it with ease, especially with these generous times.
Homes don't get dirty on their own, during the day, with nobody in them. You make them. And even then they are not getting so messy every day, neither is the laundry and etc, that's some BS. Get dust filter system on your vents, will cut the workload even less and healthier.
More reason to get your guy or any other off more dangerous jobs, to a one that pays less, but he doesn't hate it or has to suck up to his boss. But he can't because his wife wants to stay at home and live the dream.
Really it is simple, unless you are building the house. You really are not pulling much weight, either with bad time management or whatever reason.
The efforts will never be equal, doesn't also matter. Some people are happy with it, some hide it and explode later, some are just miserable and stressed. Happens all the time.
It's all good if it makes them both happy.
But to say it's any type of real effort at home is just bs. - +1 y
I honestly wish more women with unaware or unappreciative husbands would strike on housekeeping, just to get them to see how much shittier every day living would be.
And people wonder why feminism has abandoned traditional gender roles. Because “woman’s work” isn’t nearly as appreciated as it should be. - +1 y
Yes, guys whine a lot. Mostly because of laziness or we feel it's not really a mans job, which is also bs. Dishwashers exist too and are great.
And guys should strike too with their jobs, to let their women see how much shittier everyday living would be. Or women, or whoever works in the family, not going for women are less than men or any other way.
If you have a bad system at something and are struggling or working hard to meet the standards, then you can't just say it is hard work, it's just ineffective system. Doesn't matter who does it, men or women.
Your home hasn't been planned out in that regard. There even was a movement for it (like a passive house but for chores), but i can't seem to recall the name.
Guys tend to have the advantage of military service, where we got used to doing chores/things etc fast. Also our jobs are more physical so we are used to sweating to get things done.
Women tend to be great at welding and sniping. Other mentally challenging jobs. Not many want those jobs, that's why some of the stigma. Nothing against women. - +1 y

+1 yI've never heard a housewife called a gold digger. I've heard women who are dating men (sometimes multiple men at the same time) for them to buy her gifts, pay her rent, etc. gold diggers. I've seen 20-30 year old women dating/marrying rich men in their 60's-70's gold diggers. But in a marriage where the wife gives up her career to become a housewife/mother, I've never personally seen/heard it.

Maybe it's where you're at 🤷🏼♀️ my sister in law was a stay at home mom till her youngest (that's 4 years younger than my youngest who 22) was in high school and I never head it. My niece is currently a stay at home mom with 3 kids and same. Again I don't think it's about if the woman works out not as much as why they entered the relationship in the first place... Someone that always worked but gives that up for their family wouldn't be labeled a hold digger. Someone that never worked, looks for a relationship where she won't have to, maybe that's the difference 🤷🏼♀️

If anyone were to judge her negatively on that, I'd imagine it would come from other women rather than men. Also with terms much more colorful than gold digger. Is that common or something?00 Reply- 9.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic.

If a woman is a housewife she is lazy or a gold digger. If she goes to work she's a selfish pos that should have stayed home all day popping babies and is the sole reason that the west is in decline.
If a guy goes to work and leaves the woman home he's a patriarchal asshat who oppresses women. If he stays home while she works to take on domestic duties then he's a weak beta with no backbone that lets women walk all over him.
Seriously lets stop worrying about what society thinks and do what makes us happy?30 ReplyHow did a housewife become a Gold Digger?
Like the only money she spends are the one of her husband. Ain't like she looking for charity?
Gold diggers are woman who collect income from dumb people who should know you can get that for free!!!
That being said I'd perfer if the wife next to me can earn her own money. Because if she can't even earn 1 dollar she can't spend my money.
But it's a free world ya all do what ya like.
Not defending just making a point on whats right and wrong.00 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I suppose it depends on what a housewife does. If a housewife is a mother, she most certainly has a job and is saving on the cost of hiring a nanny. But if a housewife is mainly simply house sitting...
Here's the thing I find myself in this mindset. As a woman I'd be saying "H#ll yeah!" Let's keep the Netflix and wine flowing, girl power ✊ but as the guy... I suppose a guy does not have that option and never will 🤔 as far as tradition goes... Sometimes I feel like during birth "aww it's a girl!" She Is going to live a long, supported and comfortable life!" "Oh... It's a boy. Good luck"00 Reply4.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I never heard that before but maybe cuz they don’t make money and just looking for a free ride unless there are kids at home then I don’t see them being gold diggers , I see that as being smart considering daycares aren’t cheap , so I guess it just depends on her actions I guess , if she is just sitting around the house and barely lifting a finger and just doing what’s best for her then yes she is a gold digger , but if she is busting her ass keeping the house clean and laundry and dishes etc , then she wouldn’t be a gold digger. Back in the day it was proper for a married woman to stay home and take care of the house while her husband was at work , But females ruined that cuz of Women’s Lib , bitching and complaining that they wanted to be more independent and wanting careers etc. by that happening the economy rose and the price of things went up so nowadays it usually takes 2 incomes to support a family when back then just 1 , so women can blame themselves for being dumb lol
00 Reply988 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Never heard that but there better be kids involved before she becomes housewife, because there is not enough work to be done at home when todays utilities are available. It's a choice and it not the choice that leads to gold, she would had even more money if she worked. So calling the gold diggers make no sense. Unless she spends all day spending his money, shame on him if he allows that.

+1 yWho calls them gold diggers? That must be women, men don't think like that. We call women who date men to take advantage of their resources and wealth and then leave when they get bored, or something like that, gold diggers.
A good housewife is what many, many men prefer. But there is reciprocity in the relationship.
Basically I see it this way. If a woman wants and asks and asks and asks, and get's and get's and get's, but then bails when anything other than sex is required from them, those are gold diggers.00 Reply- 3.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic.

Women who's husband have money never clean. The maids come over twice a week and clean the condo or house.
Rich people live very nice comfortable lives.

+1 ySome men are stupid and allow their girlfriend/wife to rip them off. This is the same situation when women allow a guy to beat them. It's just a fetish.
Every guy who complains women are gold diggers should think twice why he allowed their partners to exploit him. Every guy knows how divorce laws work in his country and he knows in case his wife leaves him she will take half of property obtained while marriage. You shouldn't play a game if you aren't capable to afford the loss.10 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yA gold digger is a gold digger, it's a human behavior wether she's a housewife or not...
In general a housewife ain't a gold digger at all, she's just doing her role in life as a woman and the man is doing role in life towards his wife and family, he's working outside while she's working inside as simple as that...
A housewife is a hard working lady and what she does must be appreciated, no money in the world is enough to thank her if she's a truly devout housewife...10 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Never has a housewife ever been called a "gold digger".
Mainly as a "gold digger" is usually an escort/promiscuous woman, who doesn't settle anywhere for longer than the paycheck lasts.00 ReplyBecause some people don’t think running a household has any serious value.. if you’re taking care of the home and your family.. that’s not good digging. That takes work and effort.
