so the 'love' here in the song is not the romantic or sexual kind, but more of the kind of unconditional love a parent may have for their kid. the completely selfless humble love that gives more than it takes.

dad left them while Benny Mardones was there for them all and he passed
due to Parkison's and he sung this song one last time and he was on stage
he said this will be the last time I sing this cause Parkison's was taking over
