Well... to be honest, here is mostly considered polite to leave the seat up, and impolite to close it - because after use, you are supposed to spray the chemical in and let it air. So I would see it as more impolite to close it.

Think about it. The only time the lid needs to be up is when a guy needs to pee. The rest of the time the lid is used when guys sit to poop, and women use the toilet to BOTH pee and poop. It just makes sense to leave it down. 🤷♀️
I have 2 brothers and if I had a nickel for every time I've almost fallen into the toilet because I was about to pee my pants but SOMEONE decided to leave the toilet seat up... Well I would have a quarter.

It bothers me when anyone does tbh. But not to a major degree as it's just a little annoyance.
It's interesting how I'm this way... 🤔 But it does make sense considering I was raised by the same women that would be bothered by the toilet seat being up. And if I didn't put it down, I would be criticized.
Now, it's only annoying because I have memorized movements for when I go to the bathroom, so if any process is different, it will feel like something is missing. 🤔 I'm weird

I'm not a ladies man in that sense. I grew up with one brother and we never bothered with that. I only started hearing about it around when I was in college. It makes no sense to me that girls are so entitled that they need the seat put down for them, but can't lift it for us. Just leave the seat however you use it! How much actual effort does it take to lift or put down a toilet seat? Are you really gonna bitch about it? I've literally never cared or even noticed if the seat is up or down regardless of whether I need to do number 1 or 2.
Is it really so difficult to move a toilet seat into the position you prefer? Does it actually tax the brain-power of some people, or their physical strength? Why is this such an issue for so many females? I've never been able to work that out.

I don't understand why everyone doesn't just close the toilet, when they're done with it. I always have, because:
1) It doesn't shoot particles into the air when you flush
2) I don't want to look at an open toilet when I'm brushing my teeth
3) You close cabinets, closets, microwave, stove, etc, when you're finished with them, so why not the damned toilet?

Easiest way to encourage a woman to leave the seat up when they are done, is to pee on the seat while it is down and give them the same excuse they give us as to why you should leave it down - I never bother to check to see if it is down. It takes longer to lift the damn seat than it does for it to drop down… Opps, sorry ‘Dear’.

A) it isn't difficult to pick it up and put it back down
B) girls peeing usually makes it dirty underneath
C) with a bit of practice, you can aim fine without lifting it up
D) if you lift it up and pee outside of the centre, it is worse than using a wet wipe to wipe off the plastic that remains down
E) it splashes regardless. it just does. a pissoire it better (though I haven't tried one naked to feel on my skin if it also splashes)
Why does women leave the sanitary one up? If men put it down like it is suppose to be then both lids would be closed, which is the sanitary thing to do, so women leaves the main toilet seat up more often. Most every home, etc toilets has two seats and both should be down to look great and be sanitary.

I'm quite happy for you to leave it down. If you left it up we might have to put it down again next time we used the toilet as we do need to sit on it sometimes as well. I always leave it down after I've sat on it and if I've stood I put the lid and seat down afterwards.
The real issue here is that women always leave it down, unnecessarily causing us guys to risk an ergonomic injury when bending down to lift it up.

Not a problem, I sit when I pee unless the place is really dirty in the first place. And I wipe so I don't get those last drops into my underwear. Peeing standing is for outdoors and mens room with utilities designed for standing only.

No. The rule in the house growing up was “put it how you need it.” My household rule is put the seat and lid down after use, and clean up after yourself. Guys are encouraged to sit to pee. The best way to avoid cleaning up a mess is not to make one in the first place.

I always put it down when there was more than me in the house. Now that I'm alone I don't worry about it. Besides, would you rather have pee droplets on your toilet seat or know that it'll be clean when you drop it?

I close the lid before flushing. As flushing causes bacteria from the bowl to be launched upto 2 m into the air. Everything should do this for hygiene.
