What helps you get through the hard times in life? Who can you depend on the most?

I'm curious about who or what people depend on.

• Being proactive in trying to solve life's problems. Solving them is what brings the most peace, I find.
• When you can't fix certain things, because they're just a part of life, then a redirecting of focus and energy is the way I go. This is about balance. (And, sometimes taking a break and walking away from problems helps to find some clarity or come up with an idea that's out of the box.) Maybe you work on some small task that's easy, by comparison, and that gives you a small sense of accomplishment, and it can also be the momentum you need for larger things.
• Indulging in pleasure, whatever that is for you. Life can't be all about work or being simple or conservative or responsible, etc. Good, old-fashioned, pleasure. We all need some of that.
• I have people who love and care about me. A husband, parents (though I don't rely on the parents much at all; it's more of the idea that they love me), and a very, very small handful of friends who I know will be there for me if I want to talk... or vent. And I would do the same for them.

My family. Having my mom and my closest cousin (who is about my age) helps. I tell him things that I wouldn’t tell my other cousins

My best friend, they have been there for the hardest imaginable and me for them.

after that my daughter, ex wife.

my close friends, we do as friends should, help each other out, spot when things are looking shit, take us a side and listen.
we have had some shit to deal with over the years, and we are used to helping each other, admittedly it’s mainly been those helping me lol.

I've been used to hard times literally my entire life and literally no one has helped me get through it (though 13 psychologists over the course of twelve years have tried). I can only depend on myself and no one else, and that's the way it's always been.

Myself. When i get emotional or depressed I just tell myself they're just thoughts, then I find something to do that I enjoy or something I need to be doing to maintain my lifestyle. All I ever needed was a better distraction, wish I learned this sooner

I depend solely on myself , have done pretty much all my life , I am very independent & have little need ( or want ) for people. Also a single dad , single fathers do not get any support The only people I could actually depend on , would have been my ex British Army mates.

My cats & my brother. After that im pretty much on my own. While my SO helps, i sometimes need to bitch & decompress about work & he just doesn't understand because he's never worked in my industry. I can kinda get the gist of his job from what he tells me & shows me on youtube videos, but it's hard for me to show him about what it's REALLY like to work in a restaurant. My brother knows, we've worked together, so when i bitch to him, he knows.

This is why you need hobbies and interests - not just work, booze, and friends.

Friends have their own lives, and can't always be there for you, booze is not a good friend, and work is... well... work.
