+1 yTo answer this question let us make a clear distinction between the two sexes first. A man that provide for his family that he seeded to a woman feel happy married because marriage is a kind of state that secures his provision, effort and prospects of life. At the same time there must be a manifestation kind of sacrifice and submission from the female to her man in order for keep on with their life together. The sacrifice among other things include that the woman can not have other partners because she is situated with her husband that provides. Nowadays, as many women work they can provide themselves and thus trapped in an unconditional and unfavourable situation that only love can justify. Happiness is the side effect of love.

Men go into a relationship expecting very little of their partners. Yes they have expectations and have needs but could the same be said by the other side who is more structured when approaching a relationship?

Asker+1 yI wonder if it could be more to do with women taking on most of the work, men don’t tend to spend so much energy raising children or doing housework as well as work (which is expected now in our modern economies) etc, so I can see how women could easily start to feel taken for granted.

+1 yIt is probably true. I hear or have read married men live longer than single men.
Women are just naturally worriers and almost always discontent. All of that sounds about right.17 Reply
Asker+1 yI don’t think that’s a fair assessment on women to be quite honest. Men whore married also engage in less criminal acts. If anything I’d say they have a sensible impact rather than an anxious one.

I'm married. I can say my wife just sits around and thinks about stuff to worry about. She cannot compartmentalize. If I have an issue... but i know I cannot do anything about it until the next business day. I mentally put it away. There's nothing I can do about it now. I'll deal with it at the appropriate time.
My wife will just sit around and dwell on it. Her mind racing, even if it is the weekend and she can't take action until Monday she'll let it ruin her weekend.
It is a known fact. It has been known for centuries that women "civilize" men. Young, single men with no purpose have always been big committers of crime.
That is why communities of fatherless kids who drop out and join gangs are such a problem.
I'm saying, even if she is married, it is in many women's DNA to be worriers and to over anylize things and to not be content much of the time. Guys are pretty simple... feed them well, a passionate, stable sex life, let them watch the game or hang out with the guys some... they are pretty content.
Asker+1 yThat’s one woman, not women in general. I could say the same about my dad, but that’s not men in general. That’s more likely to be along the lines of mental health issues.
Asker+1 yThere are too many broad sweeping statements here with no evidence that one causes the other etc.

Yes... I'm not saying it about 1 woman here...1 woman there. This woman worries... they all worry. This woman does not worry... they all do not worry.
I'm speaking of the macro. Overall, on the grand scheme of things... women are more discontent and more apt to worry. - +1 y
"Women are twice as likely to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, and the prevalence of anxiety disorders is significantly higher for women (23.4 percent) than men (14.3 percent)."

Yes, study after study has proven that women initiate divorce far more than men do these days. According to 2015 research from the American Sociological Association (ASA), women initiate almost 70 percent of divorces. Feb 5, 2020
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 ySome women want to get married because it's a milestone, a status symbol in life that her friends and siblings are also experiencing.
It's also an exciting experience and at that wedding she's the center of attention.
However, the actual marriage and motherhood part is hard and women don't want to be tied down.
I've been through it.
The novelty of marriage wears off for a lot of them.10 Reply
+1 yThis is a teerrific question! I think that it is that we both have life changes that we did not expect to see in each other. Aging, preferences, interests, etc., can all change. We have to accept each other the way we are present tense and not keep looking at the old picture of "us on the ski slope." You done gone down the ski slope... Now take a look around!~

+1 yConsidering the fact that 80% of divorces are initiated by women, I would say more women are definitely more unhappy in their marriages. Why? Because women don't filter enough when it comes to men and many just force themselves to settle down around a certain age, usually due to their biological clock.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yThere was one study that showed that and it has been soundly trounced for being inaccurate.
Society b3lieves women want marriage while men don't because that is true. Men are avoiding marriage today in record numbers because it is a bad deal for them.01 Reply

+1 yI think men in marriage may be happier... but you have to average in divorce stats. Id love a real marriagable woman to be like that with... but im also smart and am making guesses at the unhappiness and likelihood of divorce and im not sure if thats counted in, its a positive happiness return. So therefore im not interested in marriage. Thank you.
00 Reply What research says that? My dad worked his ass off and only stayed because me and my siblings, my mom even cheated on him. I'd say men have a harder time with marriage it is also one of the reason so few men want to marry.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yRight? I'd really like our lovely women to explain that one to me. Why do you lovely women want to marry us when some stats show women aren't turning happier? I think many of us men sure don't try to force or encourage you to marry us 🤔 That is unless you are dating a family man type.
I certainly can't imagine myself being happier if I would be married.00 Reply- 394 opinions shared on Relationships topic.

Asker+1 yYep, look at the research for yourself. Reality vs fairytale.
- +1 y
Or you can provide a source for your statement that I highly doubt is true. There’s no benefits to a man getting married. “Research for myself” I worked at a strip club hun, our clientele was married men 😊
Asker+1 yWhy waste my time arguing about what I’ve already looked into? Better things to do. Mature conversation is prioritised. It’s there if you actually want to see it, I’m not interested in spoon feeding people.
Asker+1 yI have a degree hun, I know how real research is validated.
- +1 y
You looked into it, but you can’t provide a source lol sounds like you just pulled this right out of your ass so you can argue with people. Don’t talk about me wasting your time. “It’s there if you want to see it” sounds like someone that has no actual source that says married men are happier than married women
- +1 y
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 oh good god you have a degree probably in something totally different and now you think you know everything. Get the hell out of here
Asker+1 yThe men who visit strip clubs don’t account for all men. And even if they visit that doesn’t always signal an unhappy marriage believe it or not. Many men are taken by surprise when wives file for divorce, m. It’s amazing how many say they never saw it coming.
Asker+1 ySo the question is what’s going on with the wives. My suspicion is they’re not feeling validated in their relationships and are missing that connection they once had etc.
- +1 y
Since when do stats actually account for all men or all women? Usually it’s just a poll that somebody has taken. Many women are taken by surprise when their husbands file for divorce
- +1 y
You still haven’t provided a source so I can’t even answer any questions. You want to spend time arguing but you can’t provide a source you claimed you found

Given how marriage benefits men at the expense of women, why do women want to marry (aside from arranged marriages)?
