Why do I like older men?

So, how come it is I like older men? My friends say I'm weird for it, but I just have a soft spot for guys in their 20s-40s. Specifically dads (who don't have girls) and teachers, but honestly most of em are handsome. I know realistically I won't be spending my life with an older man, but it's always been a thing for me to be with someone older. When I DID get with a 27 year old (I'm 18 so it wasn't illegal), one of my friends forced me to break it off because he was too old for me.

Is it really that odd? Why do I have such a soft spot for older guys with a caring side?

I think you are a little bit too young for anyone over 24. This is coming from someone that is 23 dating someone that is 32. I feel like I grew a lot as a person from 18-23 and I think your inability to even join him at a bar and won’t be able to for a couple of years is a problem. I was 19 and dating someone that 26 and he was sneaking going to bars behind my back and getting away with stuff because I couldn’t get in.

If you have had bad experiences with immature men your age, that can be a reason. Eventually more men your age will become accomplished and mature, especially by your mid 20s. Also, dating someone older than you by then is more apt to work than doing it now.

Was your father absent in your life as you grew up? That could be a very big reason why you like older men. Also, girls mature faster than boys, so that could be a reason. In the future, don't let friends discourage you from dating older men.

Actually, I have a healthy relationship with my dad. Though, I never saw him as attractive (incest gross yknow). I just have bad experience with young boys.

A lot can come down to their confidence, level of maturity, things often not being a huge issue, loads of reasons.

the main problem is you as a person needs to be mature enough for a relationship, some are some are not.

also it should always be you initiating any interest.

Avoid anyone that is interested because of your age rather than you as a person.
