At what age should a woman stop being obligated to spend time with her mom?

My girlfriend is in her 30's and she goes out of town with her mom often. Her mom doesn't live in the same city, she lives about 4 hours away from us. We both work full time Mon- Fri, and about 2 weekends of the month her mom is pressing her to go to some event, or just to be with her. I used to go on these little trips with her, but after a few year I got tired of it. Her mom is single, and has been for decades. I don't want to stop her from being with her mom, but it seems like mom is being very controlling of her and her time. Is there an age where a woman should say, "it's my life, I make the rules"? Or should i move on and let them be golden girls?

A woman is never obligated to see their parents, but this is her choice.
I got sick of being told when my parents expected me to come visit or show up at family events because I had to, even though I didn't want to, so I made the choice to set boundaries.
If your girlfriend wants to, she can do that, but it should be because she wants to and not because you want her to - otherwise you're the controlling one.

I think it depends on what she wants. What's best for me isn't necessarily what's best for her.

She should be able to do that when she moves out of the house.
The question here is, does your girlfriend enjoy this? Or is she really forced to do this?
It does sound like a lot when they live that far away.

Reaching legal age and when you move out of house you have no obligation to see them.
